Just wondering if the Americans, wherever you are, have gasoline and how much. Our stations shut down this evening. At the time, gas was around 3.20.

First off, I don’t eat gas so the price of it will have absolutely no impact on my caloric intake. Second off, people in depression because they stay at home need to move. They can use horses to move. Third off, take a bus.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
Right, people can stay at home, in a depression and starve instead!

Someone called me from south Florida and said they are allowed 5 gal. of (premium only) gas and have been told that they will get no more gas or food shipments until after September 7th.

Pardon? Where do you come up with this stuff, Chatter? “Tone”? “Combative”? If it gets “out of hand”, posts like yours are sure to fuel it. [head shaking .gif]quote:Originally posted by Chatter:
More importantly, the tone of the post that reaised these questions is combative. I urge that we not prolong this aspect of the discussion, as I predict it will get out of hand.
Why do people like to spread false rumors (“false rumors” is probably redundant)? Doesn’t anyone ever spread good rumors? I’ve got one – the world IS NOT coming to an end, at least for today. In 5 billion years the sun is going to blow, so you’ll want a good sunscreen (but, that’s another bad rumor, and something you can put off for a while).quote:Originally posted by Chatter:
Sorry, that is an unfounded rumor. Completely untrue.
Carpool, hitchhike, roller shakes, scooter, golf cart, hybrid? I *am* having a hard time visualizing a hybrid low-rider.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
BTW, we have no bus service in our town of aprox.40,000 nor horses.

Yes, it appears to be sliding down that hill. “Demanded”? You sure have a flair for the dramatic.quote:Originally posted by Chatter:
As for my other comment, I simply was wary about a post that basically demanded an explanation of Americans as to how they managed to let such a catastrophe occur, as well as another quip. From there I simply see such a discussion sliding downhill.
Well, does anyone actually understand women? Although, my Mom did give me some great insight. She said, “Rick, once a month, don’t be surprised if a girl doesn’t want to go swimming.” I’ve never forgotten that. To this day, I’m never surprised when that happens.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
Poor rick. You just don't understand how the other half lives.
Add Hummer and Suburban to that list.quote:Originally posted by Rick:

I’ve got a million of them.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
Funny
Just between you and me, I’m trying to get Chatter to lighten up. But don't tell Chatter.

Chatter is just way too sensitive, and defensive, on the subject of anything about America(ns).quote:Originally posted by Camera:

Good point. I purpose Mardi Gras be moved to Vail, Colorado.quote:Next question: rebuild New Orleans or let it as is as a testimony to the folly of trying to maintain a pseudo-Atlantis city under the sea (level)?
So true. Kind of like the original topic and the rumors of gas shortages.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:

I bet there's a lot of people in New Orleans that wish they could. Spending a 3 day weekend in the Astrodome leaves something to be desired.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
but staying home is a good idea.
But, nickels develop much, much faster. Pennies are currency challenged – and heavy. Try buying something at a self-checkout using 1000 pennies.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
As for pennies, I have always taught my little ones to save them because them seem to develope into dollars!
I pray you send money.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
No, I will still pray
It does sound like a good idea. On the down side, if I were in New Orleans, I think I would have seen enough water to last a lifetime.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
I just saw where they loaded three cruise ships with some of them. Neat idea!
AND, I would never try to sell you anything.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
I would not ty to use 1000 pennies..unless I was not happy with you!
Excellent point. Hadn't thought of that.quote:I just wish our National Guard troops were home in the USA, taking care of business in the disaster areas.
Help? Shelter, food, medical attention, kitty litter, dry newspapers in the birdcages, desalination kits for the gold fish. Parrots might want to take a shower. The left behind might be roaming around, maybe even scared. Three dogs with a lady? I guess the dogs could always eat the lady.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
Interesting..help them out what? I would assume that any left behind might not have made it and probably are not on a rescue list, right?Don't know. I did see one lady that had three dogs with her. I don't recall where she was staying, but she said it was all she had left.
I prefer those that make silent donations. It always bugs me when they brag about their donations. But, since one never knows who made the silent donations, one never knows whom to prefer. Another advantage to making anonymous donations is that you don’t get on every donation mailing/email/telephone list. So, how much did you donate?quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
Don't know much about animals.I am concerned with people first. Yes, rick I have donated. I also would like to see people like perhaps the Kennedys, Winfrey, Bushes, etc. donate. Perhaps they have silently.
quote:Regarding people first, pets second – there was a survey pertaining to which would someone save first, a drowning pet or a drowning stranger. As I remember it, if someone’s pet is in the water with you and you’re a stranger, you better get acquainted with the pet owner in a real hurry
I pray that's the case.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:
As to the amount I donated..at least as much as you, I'm sure.
Saves a lot of money and time.quote:Originally posted by Mrs.M.:

There were some reports about shooting at helicopters (maybe another one of those bad rumors), so perhaps there’s some interest, in that aspect. Sounds like Mike is just looking for collaboration with BBC.
