Lost two auctions yesterday where I would have been high bidder. AS never placed the snipes. Ebay shows no bid. I received no AS report. Yet the snipes show in my ended auction folder on AS with the label "Snipe Placed" and a status us of "ready" when both auctions already ended.

What is going on? I have some critical options coming up and now cannot afford to trust AS to place the bids. Will have to go manual. Frown

Hi tcfx,

I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing.

There is currently a known issue which is causing our system to be unable to update many snipes with a proper end of auction status in a timely manner, which would explain why these ended items may still show “Ready” and “Snipe Placed” on your My Snipes page, and our technical team is currently working to address the issue.

I am uncertain when the issue will be resolved at the moment, but these snipes should be updated with the appropriate end of auction status once the issue has been addressed and we are able to process all the necessary updates.

Ebay has recently started requiring that all users change their passwords due to a security breach, and so perhaps these snipes could not be placed because you changed your eBay password but did not yet update your Auction Sniper password accordingly.

On a related note, many users are currently receiving errors when attempting to login to our site or update their passwords, so you may not be able to do so immediately. We are working to address that issue as soon as possible as well, and will be posting further updates on the situation to the following thread of our forum as additional information becomes available:

We apologize for the inconveniences these issues may be causing!

Hi tcfx,

I just clicked the "View Confirmation" button (look for the eye icon) next to your most recent 3 snipes to see what we encountered when attempting to place these bids on your behalf, and it appears they could not be placed successfully because eBay presented us with a captcha when we attempted to access your account.

Unfortunately, we do not have any way to bypass these captchas, but they seem to be relatively uncommon in the grand scheme of things.

We cannot offer any specific insight into why eBay did this, so you may want to check in with their Customer Support team to see if they can provide you with any recommendations on how to avoid encountering similar difficulties again in the future.

It is certainly regrettable that you missed out on the opportunity to purchase these items, but I hope this helps you better understand what happened in these cases.

I have had both problems happen to me. Today, I lost an auction because AS did not place my bid even though my max bid was well above the winning bid. In addition I received an email yesterday from AS saying I lost an auction when in fact I actually won it. I am also getting emails 2-3 days after the end of the auction, saying I won. I, like everyone else, must have 100% confidence in AS as I bid on things that don't come available very often and it is imperative that my bids are placed correctly.
I changed my passwords in ebay and AS a few days ago and have won auctions since so that is not the problem.
Me too. Completely missed two auctions today; Auction Sniper still says it is "Ready" although both auctions are over and done. This is NOT a failure to update my password. I changed my password on eBay, then entered the new password on Auction Sniper following directions. After entering the new password on Auction Sniper, I clicked "Save," then I clicked the button labeled "Verify your eBay information." I got back a message from Auction Sniper saying "Verified eBay login information - Your account has been verified and all snipes will be properly placed." Obviously, the "properly placed" was incorrect. If there is a "captcha" problem, don't sent Auction Snipers to eBay to get it fixed - it's an Auction Sniper problem. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE, SINCE THERE IS NO POINT IN USING AUCTION SNIPER IF ONE CAN'T RELY ON IT.
Hi Community,

We encountered some additional technical difficulties over the course of today which caused many snipes to fail between 2 AM and 4 PM PDT, but the primary issue has since been resolved and we are no longer seeing failures of this nature.

Any snipes that failed due to these circumstances may currently reflect incorrect statuses on the My Snipes page, and we are still looking into the possibility of getting them updated to correct the proper end of auction status.

We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. If you have any specific questions regarding snipes you had scheduled during this time, please contact our Customer Support team directly from under the “Help” tab on our site.

That's all well and good but who cares at this point about what the status says. What we all care about is that we lost auctions today and need to be reassured that this wont happen again. Unfortunately, it is a high price to check it out, I am not going to risk losing any more auctions to see if AS is going to place my bid. I think the lackadaisical attitude of AS in getting on this problem and its apparent focus on non-essential issues like the status of closed auctions is unsettling to me. I realize that this is not life or death, but it seems that AS is lacking a sense of urgency and consideration of the fact that we take our auctions very seriously. Maybe I'm wrong but that's my perception and in life, there is no reality, only perceptions.

Completely agree with this. The time that AS are saying that the problems occurred is also WAY off....I had snipes set up between 15:00 and 23:00 UK time (BST) On Saturday all of which failed. That is an 8 hour window in which the service was not working, AS says the service was down for just 2 hours which is blatantly wrong.

It appears to be working again now, which is great, but what poor service and innacuracies from AS!

I guess it could be AS not being proactive and informing their clients of a problem. That we had to lose auctions to learn of this problem and their lackadaisical attitude in responding. Yes I agree that AS has worked flawlessly for the 2 years I have used it. However, this type of software is not allowed the luxury of bugs or failures, as each time that happens, someone loses something. I can't recover those missed auctions, those items are not for sale anymore. I am not saying this is fair, it is what it is. We don't call our IT departments and tell them our computers are working fine, we only call when there is a problem. And I wouldn't call what happened last weekend the slightest problem. I would consider it pretty major as shown by how many people were affected.

I also don't understand AS's attitude during this time regarding competitors. I received an email saying that I cannot promote AS's competition in this forum, which I wasn't doing. In addition to not letting us know there was a problem, AS also didn't offer any solutions or workarounds. WE basically were left out in the cold until they fixed the problem. I guess I am old school but if I was running AS, I would have not only alerted my customers immediately and I would have offered an alternative. Rather than fearing my competitors or putting my head in the sand, I would have used this opportunity to show my customers how other snipe software works. This would have accomplished two things. It would have shown how much AS really cares about its customers AND it would have showcased how inferior the other products are. AS is definitely the best sniping software. The other companies do not have a mobile app, which I use all the time. I never said I was jumping ship, I am a loyal person and AS has served me fine.

This is all just my humble opinion
These guys don't get it. Terrible communication. No accountability. No customer focus. Just clinical tech babble in response to a complete an utter failure of their product.

They could have let us know what was going on. Instead, they just continued to let bids go into the black hole with no attempt to warn their customer base. I'm done. Other choices out there.
