I'm out for now and free until mid June when I have to go down to Tucson for a class. But now I'm officially half way to the degree. Hopefully it'll be worth it.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to get the '67 Falcon out of the shop. It just had the engine rebuilt. They had it since the end of February and finished it today. It's a long drive back, so hopefully it'll run OK.

Christine - Hope you Ford is running like a charm and you made it back in one piece. Fords are notorious for breaking down over here (its why us Holden lovers bag them so much ) I dont mind the older Fords though.

Mrs M - Your pics arent showing for me either. Its not a new camera, Hubbie just managed to fix the Sony (after I dropped it). I am hunting down the new Minolta DiMage Z1 on ebay. Apparently of the under $1000 mark, its the best camera on the market. We are not having another Sony as they chew the batteries too quickly. I was keen on the Kodak DX6490, but was talked out of it because of their after sales history

The Falcon and I got home OK. It ran just fine, but they found a few more things that need to be done to it. Oh, well. That was expected.

I saw someone using a camera that takes pictures and then puts them straight into the computer. Can anyone tell me how these work and how hard they are to use? I have had a scanner for a while and still haven't figured that out. (And I really didn't want to admit that.)

I am not very up on camera terms, but I have one that does that. There is a small card that comes out of the camera that you put into the computer...there has to be a slot for it in your computer..and you load it in with the supplied program..then print or whatever you want. I can also load them directly into my printer instead, the same way. It is nice. My card holds something like 250 pictures and then after I load them in, it can be wipped off and used again. And, of course, I can load any portion of pictures at anytime. I think there is an attachment you can buy if you don't have a slot in your computer.

Digital Camera's are really easy to use Christine. Mrs M is referring to her card reader on her lap top I believe. I dont have a laptop but there are 2 ways I know of using digi cams on your PC.

You can either use the USB cable that will plug directly into the camera, or you can buy an external card reader. Both are really simple, you just take the pics, pull the card out and stick it in the reader OR plug the cable into your camera. XP software will automatically read either devices and ask you what you want to do.

*Most* digi's will come with their own picture editing software.

What kinda scanner do you have?

That doesn't sound too intimidating. I could probably figure out how to plug the USB cable into the computer with a minimum of panic.

The scanner is a Umax Astranet iA101. I did manage to figure out how to scan pictures and save them to the My Pictures section on the computer, but when I tried to e-mail the pictures from there to a friend he said I'd saved them wrong. He said the last letters (.jpg or whatever they were) were wrong and he couldn't see or open the pictures. Have you any idea what he was talking about or what went wrong?

While I am not familar with your scanner, all of them have the option of what to save your pics as when you scan them or when you use the *Save As*.

The best way to save your images is as a .jpg, so just make sure you select that from the drop down menu when you have saving.

My old Cannon scanner had the file selection in the *tools* section. You could default it to .jpg. My new HP just scans them as .jpg then if I want them to be something else I just use the *save as*.

We are taking the munchkin to the Doc's today, he isnt getting any better and his cold has moved to his chest - he is miserable, which makes us miserable.

Thanks for the advice. Next time I'll look for a drop down menu and try that. He tried all sorts of things to see those pictures. They were pictures of one of my Falcons.

Tyler has an ear infection and with just 3 doses of anti biotics is a much happier kid

I took Alexis out on the pier to watch the dolphins today. She got really excited because they were close to shore and she fell. Got her first big splinter! Was a major chore trying to get her to let me extract it! LOL!
