Chapter headings to give you a taste of the contents:

Complete sets of things that you never liked in the first place
Pay much more than you would in the shops
Convince the neighbours that you are stark staring mad with the finest collection of widgets in your town
Buy things that don't remotely resemble the photographs
Own things you have never ever heard of, wanted or seen before
Own more defunct goods than working ones
Pack the house full of collectables and get rid of the wife!

All the above is based on true life experience (except the bit about the Wife - though on second thoughts, I could get 2000 more magazines in the Master Bedroom if she left!)

So make my day - send me a cheque addressed to:

As you have just fallen for numbers 2 & 4 in my list above, how can you say that?

This will prove a tremendously popular topic - there's a fool born every day and most of them are using ebay! (and that includes me and by the sound of it - you!)

Come on be honest folks - tell us about your worst buys. If ten respond, I promise faithfully to publish a picture of my worst auction buy. (its in such bad taste, my wife won't even let it in the house) It will make you feel really positive about yourself!

PS For those with a sense of humour deficiency - there is no Book - it is my parody on the three adverts previously posted! For those of you who don't understand why I have to say this, look at the response to my Xmas posting about Ebay changes & Santa's Elves!

Lol, Camera, I looked at the list and found suitable canidates for each..right here in the forum!! Wink Big Grin
Wish I could help you out with the worst buy, but I honestly do not buy very much and what I do buy, has been researched fairly carefully....ok. ok. so I bought a paperweight that had a flea in the middle of the glass. They wanted me to return it and pay shipping. Well that's not cheap for a glass paperweight. I ended up giving it to my granddaughter. Roll Eyes

Well maybe now that you've changed the topic! Big Grin

OK... My worst eBay win. I just received it in the mail today.

With proof coin sets ordered from the US Mint you get a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). Well in the 2003 silver sets there was an error on the COA. Sets were mailed out of the mint for 2 days before they realized their error and put a hold on all orders till the new COA was printed. To each customer they sent a new and correct COA for each set and a 'Letter of Apology'. (I got one)

Well I saw an auction for a copy of this letter, so placed my nuke bid at $4.00 and won for 3.75 + 1.00 shipping. Well I should have taken him literally. I received a 6 cent photocopy of the letter... a bad copy at that!

We do have a happy ending though....

me: Off went my email (not happy)

reply: I clearly said copy of letter, return it for refund less shipping.

me: Thank You It will be mailed tomorrow. To me a copy of the form letter means the real thing on US Mint letterhead.

reply: Forget it keep the letter, save the stamp and I'll paypal you refund.

me: Thank You

received refund on auction AND shipping. Smile again.

Not seen that done before - all the adverts have gone. Well done Sara B, if that was indeed you that wielded the axe!

If I am to expose myself before you all, there are some rules to this that I must point out now.

Valid Entries:
1. Jakedduck
2. Jabbergah

Disqualified for not being foolish enough:
1. Puppy Raiser (Full refund given - not so stupid after all!)
2. Mrs M (Manufacturing Fault does not count as stupidity!)

Come on all you snipers - expose yourself - at least you don't have to publish a photo, though if the total nears ten, I might change the rules again!
My worst was probably a near-lifesize stuffed toy husky which looked great in the photo, but when it arrived the stuffing had worked its way out of the legs so I couldn't get it to sit up - it just sort of subsided in a heap.

It was also too big for me to find any space for it. Why that hadn't occurred to me before I let enthusiasm get the better of me, I don't know. Roll Eyes

It got a very good home after I donated it to a raffle in aid of Husky Rescue. Big Grin

My worst was an expensive pair of designer jeans which were supposable fashionably *distressed* - they werent distressed - they were bloody well indecent!! The strategically placed *distressed* bits were actually holes that were in the most indecent places.

So I paid a ridiculous amount of money for a rag that I couldnt even polish my car with.

Big Time Fashion Victim.

They were that bad, huh? Well maybe that was so you could show off your fashionable "accordions"! Roll Eyes

Reminds me -- I was at a store yesterday and saw a denim skirt hanging on the rack -- I've seen scarves that were wider than this thing was long!! Eek If I had a daughter that wanted to wear such a thing, I'd say, "Sure! AS LONG AS YOU'RE WEARING A PAIR OF JEANS UNDERNEATH THE DANG THING!!

Uh oh...."OLD FOGEY ALERT!!"

I am very old fashioned. However, when the afore mentioned is hanging on a walking 36x24x36 my so called old fashioned values seem to automatically update, thank goodness. I'm going to have sweet dreams tonight. Heck, I'm going to bed right now.

No shower for me. I'm enjoying my fantasy too much to ruin it.

Mrs. M. I've been called worse.

Bird in the shower huh, bird = gal??, might be worth a try since i'm fantasying anyway.

Jabberah.. I like your flag. I am on a flag crusade trying to get damaged flags replaced. One bank refused to remove a badly torn flag until I called the corporate office. Now they refuse to fly another one even though I offered them one free. Go figure.
