My worst purchase was numerous 1906 newspapers from all over the U.S. bound in a book. The problem is 98-year old paper crumbles and tears very easily. It is impossible to read without doing significant damage. I bought it to read about the San francisco earthquake. Oh well, sounded good at the time.
