Thank you for NOT helping! I told you I did try to install the Snipe ir Now to FirefOx using your instructions and it didn't work. I have always used Auction Sniper and no other. Please close my account there are other sniping programs. Maybe they have better tech support and are more concerned with helping their customers than making fun of their typo's! I have one item on to snipe tomorrow, then I can close my account!

Don't come on this forum and make a complete fool of yourself!

First rule of any game is - read the rules, understand what is going on before opening your mouth and convincing all around you that you are clueless!

If you want to throw your Teddy out of the pram - go ahead! However before you next have a tantrum - think first!

Is R2 a AS representative? No, he is exactly like the rest of us - a member of the general public. If you buy a car, do you stop anybody in the street and say "I have a starting problem" or do you go to a garage?

Next time you want expert help with a Firefox problem, just contact AS first. This is a public forum and if we can help, we will. Nobody here, obviously, has experience of Firefox and AS (I certainly haven't as I use ie) and thats why you have not had a more helpful answer to your question. It happens.

Stomping off will only hurt one person - yourself!

AS is an excellent program - within its limitations - it struggles to get bids exactly on time on Sundays and if you use a browser other than ie, it obviously has problems judging by you intial remark.

My answer is simple - weigh up the advantages of AS to you and the use of Firefox for your eBay activities. If you think a better browser is worth losing Auctions for, then continue on, if not, accept the limitations of AS and just use ie for Ebay and Firefox for general browsing.

Dooubtless not the answer you wanted, but life is full of these "trade offs" (perhaps AS have a method to ovecome your problem and it is possible - post here afterwards and let others know the solution)

Welcome anyway - you'll just have to put up with our directness - especially R2 (He can be very helpful at other times)

Hmm - I'm not an AS employee - this is a forum not a help desk and I was as helpful as I could be given the information provided by adrisn44 - ie, s/he got the name of the browser wrong and didn't tell us much about the problem.

The fact that AS support rarely visit means, I guess, that they don't mind losing the odd whinger who posts here expecting a fellow user to read their mind and solve their problem by return.

R2 (always helpful but finds it hard to knit fog!)

So far you've popped in here three times to complain or criticise. Not a very impressive track record is it? I can now see why the Australian's call us Brits "Whinging Poms"

I am sorry you missed the point, so I'll try and explain it in a simplified manner! (I apologise if I have been misled by your pseudonym!)

Please read his reply to R2. Was that not a frenzy of anger? I called it a "tantrum" which I think was quite accurate description!

He'd missed the point completely and is typical of the many who come in here, don't bother with even a cursory reading of previous posts to try and gain some elementary understanding of the forum's purpose.

So I spelt it out to him. If that's what you construe as a "Rant" so be it. Hectoring more like it!

Rick & R2 shoulder the burden of dealing with questions (unpaid of course) that should be rightly fielded by paid staff.

AS, as a company, is characterised by a total inability to get to grips with complainants. For example, a simple posting last week, explaining that a server was running slow and not synchronising with eBay would have stopped a lot of hot air!

So I suggest, if you are feeling public spirited (and have an understanding of the basic principles of Sniping), that you try and spend a few minutes a day trying to be helpful to the "clueless"

Personally, I think some of the people that Rick & R2 deal with would try the patience of a Saint!

If the ignorant ask a question in a civil manner, I think that's fair enough. If however they come in here bent on a mission to denigrate, then I suspect that they may have ulterior motives. ("stooges" for rivals - it has been seen in the past) I generally try and give this type of complainant a "blast between the ears" as, on the whole, AS provides an efficient Sniping service that it is my interest to defend against rival firms attempting to "put the boot in" by populating these forums with posts that have the sole purpose of running the service down.

As to spending my day "getting a life", I am normally stuck in front of a computer trying to earn the odd "bob" or two and a swift visit here to have a quick "rant" provides me with a minute or two of harmless amusement

So, are you public spirited enough to serve the confused, the angry and the plain stupid? I am certain Rick & R2 would welcome an assistant.

We (Aussies) don't think all Brits are "Whinging Poms" just the likes of ........(If you are the ones to kick us out of the World Cup that may change Big Grin )

BTW I thought R2's fireplace comment was clever. Maybe 2 ;-) ;-) would have been noticed.

And maybe you guys "should get out more" instead of trying to help people - I guess the pay is 2 good. Wink Big Grin

Get out” of what and into what?

Maybe a game of cricket? As per the following explanation (lots of ins & outs)

quote:
Each man that's in the side that's in goes out and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out .

When they are all out the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in out .

Sometimes you get men still in and not out .

When both sides have been in and out twice including the not outs , THAT'S THE END OF THE GAME !

AS should double your pay - What is 2 x $0 Big Grin??? Can't find my calculator! Confused

Is that the same as “ee ba gum”? I have a feeling none of them are correct. Where is Mike when you need him?

Here, Rick, at 7:59 am, just collecting my bits together to visit a client's site for the day. Big Grin
As a West Country man and someone who lives on t'other side of the Pennines, not qualified to answer this point. FWIW, I have never heard anyone actually use the expression, even in Lancashire!

This says it is a Yorkshire saying, but then we have this who quotes it from the late Gracie Fields (not Field as they have it) who was a Lancastrian.
That said, the first link's explanation is probably the correct one, but I doubt if anyone has used the saying in the last century or so. Smile
