Besides, I'ts a bragh, bright, sunny day with a wind blown blizzard up here. And, I've lost a lot of snipes today to high paying proxies. At least I didn't over pay.

There must be a lot of people on ebay today. All my gizmos have been nibbled to death. They have gone from .99 this AM to 35.00 each one on about 6 of my items I've been trying to snipe. Yach. I just have to take a deep breath an keep adding new items to my bid groups as each of the items are going at way over what I normally pay or want to pay...

I collect certain paperweight. I will watch my snipe for days and then all of a sudden they have surpassed their value! Sooo,I go hunting again. Eventually I find the bargain I am looking for!

Yup, that is what is so great about bid groups, you keep adding to it as you find the gizmo. Sooner or later you will get it at great savings to you, and not overpay...

Australian vegetable yeast extract spread for bread or toast.

I don't know what is in it. But, when I was there it struck me that Vegemite is to Australia, what Poi is to Hawaii. An acquired taste.

As for the Vegemite - its not an aquired taste...you just have to know how to spread it!!!

Every foreigner I have known goes in for the big scoop and smear....NO NO NOOOOOO NO NO!!! You must have lovely warm toast thats lightly toasted, spread with a good dollop of margarine or butter then smear a thin layer of Vegemite on the top and let it all melt in together....Yummmmmmm (picture Homer's drool).

Nope. We are here near the Lewis and Clark Lake on the MO River. Between SD and NE. But after HOT desert for years, it do feel cold. I know, I know,
we got snow in DV also, but it did not last as long.
You say your in the semi-tropics. Must be FLA or like.

Actually, tropic. I am very far south Fl. My daughter lived in NE. for a while. Very windy in the summer, very cold in the winter!

You have the climate correct, but love the lake. And, my other half had to get the boat he always wanted..

Not too far off..naples. I love the winter but hate the summer ..rain everyday, hot , humid for 6 months. I would prefer winter in the north. I lived in Tn. on the plateau for a while. Beautiful all year around weather. I have also lived in the UP of MI. I loved the winters there. Lots of fun! The summer were nice, but too many bugs on the lake I lived on!

It has been a while since I've been in your area.
How are the "Palmeto Bugs" these days. Fla used to be overrun with them, I hated when they flew into the car at night. That was the days before the AC in the cars. Almost as bad as the giant northern mesquitos. About the only perfect weather is Tahiti, and then you get the chance of tropical storms. and the Winter rains like you get there in FLA.
I guess one just makes the best of what you have. Enjoy the best and survive the rest.

Well, I cannot say thay they are a problem here. When I was a girl, I live in Ft Lauderdale. They were bad there and I went to Miami U. And had them in the dorm. The northern gils would shriek!!

What's a "gil"? Is that like a "snip"? Are there southern gils, or are they only indigenous in northern climates? Are they painful? Since they shriek, can the removed? Are they nocturnal?

Oh, you mean French gils.
