Now that I have voted I will put my 2 cents here as well.

I have tried alllll the ways mentioned above for leaving feedback.

At the moment I have an email that I send out when I am posting the win off that says, if I dont hear from the buyer in a couple of weeks I will assume all is well and leave feedback.

I was leaving feedback twice a week using the bulk system (which was basically feedback on receipt of payment), but then I got hit with a couple of Neutrals, which would of been sorted out if the buyer had just contacted me prior to leaving feedback.

Usually on receipt of payment, but I admit not ALWAYS. I do enough to take the first choice though. Smile

If I get that funny feeling from their feedback or emails, I will hold off till I'm sure they are happy.

Most items I sell go out priority mail with tracking numbers, so I can prove they were delivered. They are also near indestructible so they don't get broken. I take great pains to point out any flaws, so there shouldn't be a problem there either.

I always leave feedback as each buyer pays. If I were to get other than positive from him, so be it. Not the end of the world. At least I know I did what I feel is correct. Puppy I send everything that I generaly sell by priority also. I do it online so I get free confirmation.

I have always left feedback when the buyer pays, that's they've done their part, all that should be required of the buyer is to pay (not whether he or she likes the items, etc.) however, as a buyer myself I've noticed lately that a lot of sellers are waiting until the buyer leaves feedback (positive or negative) so they can do the same...They claim that the auction isn't over until the buyer is satisified and leaves positive feedback.

I think this is taking advantage of the feedback policy, check out the discussion boards on ebay and it's all over the place. Valid reasons for all options. Maybe ebay needs to come up with a system, that the moment a buyer pays a preliminary feedback is automatically listed via paypal that states the auction was paid for??!!?!??

I don't know the answer to this question, but I'm glad everyone's voting, it's nice to see that there are some good souls out there.

Yes, and No... Part of being a good buyer is not complaining about things that don't matter.

I would point to the thread on eBay, but seems to be gone. Found the post on AS that should point to it, but it doesn’t go anywhere. Frown

Seems someone left negative feedback to a seller because the packing material (newspaper) had an advertisement they didn't like. They took offense and wanted a full refund with shipping both ways. It was an ad for viagra. To me, that's a buyer that needs negative feedback, even if they paid on time.

you do not have to have a account to use the ebay/paypal shipping label, the funds are deducted straight from your paypal account

Also if someone were to buy something from you "off ebay" and pay you with paypal you can create the same shiping label for those items as well through paypal
It is all paypal based, also there is a option to have the post office pick up your packages FREE OF CHARGE on next delivery day. have not tried it yet but have clicked on it and read about it,
Did I read somewhere on here that ebay bought PayPal?

Maybe ebay should just buy the postal system or FedEx, too! Based on deliveries to my house lately, I'd bet ebay auctions have become a decent percentage of all parcels delivered.

That way ebay could own the cow, the milk truck, and the dairy store.

(We'd all still bid on the milk, though.)
...Mrs.M talked me into using the PayPal paid USPS labels, too! Wink

One thing I want to point out, even though the addresses are inserted by PayPal into the appropriate fields for you, you still can click to edit them if you desire. I typically modify the recipient's address if they've entered all lowercase letters -- that bugs me too much to let it go that way!

Definitely is a slick way to ship via USPS! I believe there is the option to ship via UPS too, but I've not used that option yet.

Previously being a powerseller myself my take on leaving feedback varies from customer to customer. I mainly sell high grade comic books, so condition is of utmost importance. I've never had any bad situation personally, but I have heard many of the horror stories from fellow collecting buddies of mine across the country who have had buyers switch books on them or claim to have never received an item, etc. Is the buyer's only responsibility to make a payment?

For instance, I remember having a buyer from New York who sent me a paypal payment, which had a confirmed address. I sent the item out via USPS Priority insured with delivery confirmation. Two days later, paypal emails me stating that they have reason to believe that the buyer sent funds from a stolen credit card and that the funds that I received have been reversed and taken out of my account! Out of sheer dumb luck, I received the package I sent him because the address was a little off and the person at the incorrect adress refused the delivery. I calmly emailed the buyer explaining what had happened and that I wanted him to pay for my ebay fees and postage fees and to my surprise he sent me a money order as promised. Would I have been so lucky if I left a positive right away? I highly doubt it. After speaking to the rightful owner of the credit card, which was his grandmother, I discovered that this person was out on parole and that she was so ashamed of what he has and had done again!

You can take that to the bank!
As a buyer, I have rarely received feedback before I've left it for the seller. I do see why a seller would want to wait, but I feel that once I've paid, my end of the transaction has been completed. Again, as a buyer, the only reason I could see a seller waiting until I leave them feedback is if (and I'm not ignoring the previous post - it's just a very isolated example) the seller wants to pad their chances of getting a positive feedback from me.
