About the same in this bit. Varied from 20 to 13 Celsius.
As Scotland is a biggish country with different temperature zones, it can change all over the place - the Western Isles are quite far north, but sometimes have the warmest weather in winter in the UK, despte the fact the days are quite short
We were just over the border - 20 miles from England, so weather was similar to this.
Although it was a holiday, we were sometimes working, involved in hosting the 2CV World Meeting that occurs in alternate years in a different European country. Made the national TV news! About 8000 people.
That sounds like a pretty big meeting and lots of work. It would be fun to see all those cars.

No figures yet, but we needed about 200 staff to organise it and started in 2001 !!

I have also heard this, R2, but that is something I could easily wear a soapbox or two out on!
I have never heard of anyone with a 2CV being killed in one, but I hear and see plenty with 'safer' cars being killed, usually in the early hours of the morning, with a load of 17-25 year olds wrapped around a tree.
Indeed, in a 2CV there are no bits of scaffolding inside the doors, whoopee cushions that cost £££ to replace, other bits of TLAs and alphabet soup that give you the attitude of 'I'm OK - it doesn't matter how I drive, I will be safe, and the other poor sod will be killed'. Driving is dumbed down.
What the Deuche does have is good primary safety; excellent brakes, good roadholding, straight-line steering so if you get a blowout at 80 mph, you will be brought to rest in a straight line.
With its economy, superb build quality and amount of room inside, there is really no contest!
As far as secondary safety goes, a head-on collision will push the engine under the substantial floor and the single-spoke steering wheel will bend out of the way, so your chest is protected.
The marketroids do not mention such things. Neither do they say anything about the tiny windows that cars seem to have now - cf Audi A4. Safety? I like to be able to see!
There no unsafe cars, just unsafe drivers - more of them as time goes on.

These meetings have their own currency, used for the bar and trade stands: this ensures that we get our cut out of this. We were in the finance team, so had to count thousands of little blue coins, and sell them for sterling in the kiosks.
Oh well - next one is Sweden 2007 - someone else will be doing the work.

That sounds like a really good idea.
The Falcon club has shows with just Falcons too, but I've never been to one. The 1967 hasn't been showable since the door was damaged when it fell backwards off the rack during an oil change at a service station several years ago, and the 1966 still needs a lot of work. The car shows that I've been to have all been the ones for all makes and models of older cars.
A few years ago somebody entered a 1937 Duesenberg. I don't know if it was a real one or some kind of a kit, but it was beautiful. He spent all morning yelling at people to stay away from his car and left early because he got so angry at people who wanted to look. I managed to take some pictures before being chased off. If you're interested, I can post them.
I'd rather have a car that's nice enough to show but not too perfect to take out and drive and enjoy. It looks like you had a lot of fun type cars at your meeting. Are you planning to go to the one in Sweden?

We'll be there! Next one in 2009 is in Czech Republic - they will be starting planning it now!
We are going to Paris in October in the DS to celebrate its 50th anniversary - should be good as well, except tor 28mpg fuel consumption

I intentionally said, “really old geezer.” Based on your picture, assuming that wasn’t 25 years ago, you don’t qualify for the “really”. It’s kind of hardware issue.

LOL Mike, well, whatever it was, it sure was pretty! I suspected it might be a kit or something, but the way he was guarding it made me think it just might be real. I'm no old car expert. I just go to see all the interesting cars and have fun.
That's not bad. The Falcon's insurance is pretty low too, partly because it's insured as a collector car that's only driven a limited number of miles per year. It's not a high value car either. Maybe if I get to work on it it'll be showable again next year.

Picture was actually last year! Groupee - you'll have to watch your Pees and Queues, Rick
