As a long time member of the Auction Sniper community I am beginning to loose confidence with your service. On two recent occasions your system failed to provide service. Last night at 7:00 PM PT was the latest example.

What is most frightening is loosing the snipes already in the system if your system is down.

You now have too much competition to be indifferent to this problem. Many of us live and die by a sniper system for a mired of legitimate reasons.

While I do understand there can be an occasional problem, I truly believe a good look at your software and hardware architecture would be in order.

We already have redundancy. What happened last Sunday went beyond what redundancy could fix. We could make redundant the redundancy but at what point is enough. The redundancy is what failed. There isn't anything to fix that.

You have no snipes in your account from last night and all snipes at 7pm were placed correctly. Perhaps you didn't bid enough. Can you provide the item #? I checked your deleted snipes also. Maybe you just forgot to add the snipe to our site?

What would be most useful is if you could click the "View Confirmation" button next to that snipe and then paste in the URL here. That will let me see exactly what happened and find the snipe all at once.

Auction Sniper has been choppy for quite a while now.

Excluding Sunday we'd missed only 1 in 5500 snipes in the past month. That includes people who enter 1 or 2 second snipes. That's around 99.98%. Basically less than 2 per 10,000 snipes.

Heck, it may even take links.
I don't add them because then people just type stuff with spaces in it or whatever to get it past the filter. Then it's 100x harder to search for and delete.

Nobody has quit or left.

Multiple power supplies all died at once. Something like 7 power supplies in that machine and I think it takes 3 at once to die. This is just bad luck. We put new ones in and we're rocking and rolling again. That was probably the longest we've been down in almost all 7 years we've been doing this. And we're put things into place so that even this won't stop us next time.

- a rather tame theory! I thought a rat the size of a small cat had burrowed into the server room and eaten through an important cable. Or a helicopter had crashed into the side of the building leaking fuel down the service ducts causing a blackout.

Still, if this is what it takes to get rid of these 'fair weather friends' then good news I say!

But, the word in the link would be filtered.

As an example: http://www.auctionsniper.com would turn into http://www.*************.com

Grant it, someone could still be creative with the name, but at least the link wouldn’t directly connect them to the other site.

But, if you’re already aware of this, then you’re already aware of this.
I understand you have a backup but for the past week including this past weekend 2/2-3/08 I have not been able to use the system at all. It is working now and worked some last week but did not this past weekend and there is not explanation of that and no report of an outage? My internet service was not out I did not experience any other non login instances.

Until as soon as the person posted that, saw it was filtered and clicked the edit button. Believe me, been there, done that. That's what people do. It's easier to just find and erase them. Usually by then they aren't mad enough to post it again, or if they are I give them a week vacation from the forums.
7 power supplies went failed at the same time? I don't know about anyone else, but that seems highly, highly unlikely. I was noticing problems such as having to log-on multiple times, entering an item number with a snipe not Auction Sniper not taking it, etc. for a couple of weeks. Then of course there was the not being able to access the site at all. And, the 1 bid out of 5500 that didn't go through must have been mine (although I don't believe that stat either). The problems Auction Sniper is having is really too bad. It was a great tool but now it's gotten to the point where you can't trust it to place a bid.

Why would you expect anything else? Actually, I’m always surprised when someone has the cajones to leave the name of another service, let alone a link.

I'm not here to teach you how server redundancy works but I did not say 7 failed.

I checked your snipes before and none were missed, excluding the Sunday. You had 2 that you deleted from the time you mentioned, we don't place deleted snipes. The service as I mentioned is very reliable and the stats I provided are accurate. Yours was not the 1 in 5500 since you deleted it. No site is perfect, but we're as close to it as it gets which is why we're 2x bigger than the next closest site. We have the most reliable sniping, the best support, the most feature rich site, the quickest to resolve eBay changes because we're not 1 or 2 people working by themselves doing everything from support to the fixes. etc. We rock! Oh ya. And that's the end of this thread. File a support case if you have a bug to report or your snipe wasn't placed.
