Have any of you sellers used this feature in your ebay listings? Do you think it worthwhile? With Ebay's summer special pricing (50% off) for the 10th & 11th, I'm considering trying it.

Any thoughts/opinions appreciated! The listing I'll be doing is scheduled to go live at 8:45 pm PDT, so I can abort it anytime up until then.

You should get more exposure that way. Your listing will be at the top of a search results page. That's the only plus I see.

I rarely, if ever see the items listed on the actual home page as they are off the screen past the bottom. In fact, my desktop icon takes me right to 'My eBay'.

Your item needs to be common (lots of them on eBay and people searching for it) and rare (something about it makes it special and better than most)... Does that make any sense? I guess the rare is less important.

For example, this would have been a great idea for your guitar. There were lots of guitars, but few with its heritage.

Good Luck either way you go!
Hi Puppy!

Thanks for the input! I see pros & cons, too. I'm still inclined to do it. My hopes are it may get more attention and drive more traffic to my items. This ONE item hopefully may get more traffic and "lookers" may click on "See sellers other listings". Big Grin

I'm also somewhat skeptical, too! This may just give me an opportunity to learn what DOESN'T work at half the cost! Roll Eyes
In case anyone is interested, I DID do the Homepage Featured listing. I TRIED to take advantage of the 1/2 price sale a few days back, but ended up paying FULL price because of the way I set up the listing. Roll Eyes Oh well! Don't you hate when that happens?!

It's a 10-day listing, and so far after 2 days have had 10 times as many page views as past non-featured listings have for the entire listing time! Eek WOW! That's good, right?! Interestingly enough, even with all that traffic, the item has only ONE bid. We'll see what transpires as the auction winds down in about a week.

Yep, me too, Puppy. I personally, Jabber, would not spend the money for the feature. The feature that puts you at the top of your catagory page I think is a better value and much less expensive, but perhaps you will prove me wrong. I always hope your auctions do well! Smile
My late and prolly unneeded advice would be to spend your money on *Bolding* or *HIghlighting*.

As with Puppy and Mrs M, I dont see the stuff on the home page as I never go there. What I do notice is things bolded and highlighted in catergories that I am interested in.

Just my 2 cents.

PS - I will be absent for prolly another 1-2 weeks Smile and as I am on another puter.....Am I STOOOOPID or is something funky going on with Private Messaging??????????
Update: Page views on "Homepage featured" item have accumulated on a much slower pace than they did in the first 24-48 hours. Still only one bid on item. 3 days to go 'til auction end. At this point, not sure if this option is a good way to go for my items. It's easy to get lost in all the "make money now" & "lose weight fast" listings that seem to predominate the homepage featured items! I'm also not seeing a significant increase in page views/traffic in my other listings that I was hoping would be generated. Live & learn!

Puppy had mentioned homepage featured might be a good option for something like a rare guitar. Interestingly enough, I did see a couple such listings on homepage featured and saw a 7-day listing with NO BIDS. Makes me wonder if homepage featured listings are only frequented by "Lookie Lous" instead of "Bidding Betties"! Wink

BTW, has there been any additional info forthcoming from AS about forum private topics?
Didnt see the point Mrs M, everytime the forum has been mentioned to support they tell us they dont have anything to do with it.

Puppy - was I being the *tenacious* one last time? The boys at work always comment on hormonal pregnant women. I always inform them that I would be just as grumpy at their work performance...pregnant or not.
Hi Jabber,
I got the shirts today, thanks! I like the new gray one. I am not giving up though that someday I will get a black one too. Black hides a multitude of sins, or at least makes them a little less conspicuous.
Now look everyone, Jabber says (basically) that if sales do not pick up I will never see my black shirt. The quality of these shirts are top notch and they are reasonably priced. They are a lot of fun and the seller is cool too. These would make nice Christmas presents. >CLICK<to see these irresistible shirts. One per member is all I ask.
LOL! Jake, your unsolicited recommendation is quite unexpected! I'm glad you like the shirts.

Just to update everyone on my experimental use of the ebay "homepage featured" for about $40 for this listing!?! My listings typically get 30 - 60 views over the course of a 5 or 7-day listing. The "homepage featured" listing got over 400 views within the first 48 hours of the 10-day listing. 'Til the end of the auction, views got up to high 600's/broke 700. Even with all those views, there were only 2 bids, including one from sniper Jake!

I never did see my listing featured on the ebay homepage, but I assume it was listed at least once. My listing was 1 of about 2700 homepage featured items. This was higher than the normal which I think hovers around 1700 (inflated number was due to the same half-price promotion that I tried to take advantage of, I'm sure).

Were my other listings frequented more? Maybe a little, but none broke 100 views and none had more than 2 bidders. Would I do it again, or recommend it? Most likely NOT! Doesn't seem to be a cost effective expenditure of $40! Next time I feel like spending extra money for my listings, I will try one of the cheaper promotional methods like several posters here recommended. BTW, thanks for the input & opinions! Big Grin

Hey Jake! What color lettering would you like on a black shirt? How do you like navy blue shirts and what color lettering do you like on navy? (I think I like navy better than black.) NOT promising anything, of course! Wink Razz Anyone else is welcome to chime in with fav. shirt colors!....
$40.00? Now I feel guilty. In the future, I had better use the 'order form' huh. Navy blue is cool. The only color for lettering I can picture is white. However, I am lacking a bit in the imagination dept. You and others may be more creative. Since so many people are overweight now days they might be more inclined to buy a darker color. I am going to take this order form to my friend at the police department and see if they will post it. Come on now kids just type in "EBAY ADDICT or YARD SALE ADDICT or REENACTMENT FAN" and click 'Buy It Now'

Remind me never to ignore Lexie when she’s in the family way. Probably a good idea not to ignore her, even if she isn’t with child (I would normally say “knocked-up”). Based on her signature quote, it’s probably safe to give her a hard time – it’s the ignoring thing that seems hazardous.
