Can AS please admit that emailed-searches are no longer a feature of the site?

Yup, seems like AS is full of bugs and bandwidth problems, but for now it's the best we've got!

You already know that 1 bid group problem was caused by a missing status. That's one of the few bugs if any in the past couple months. How the status was missing I dont now, but adding the status solved the problem. So we didnt even fix a single letter in our code.

As for bandwidth we've got unlimited bandwidth. We dont use 1/40th of what we are capable of using. If things are running slowly for you you may want to try a different ISP or something.

Ah, that explains why you have no trouble providing the searches the original poster was talking about . . . ;>

Just for information...

I don't normally use the search and email from AS. Mostly because I use 'Snipe it Now' from my toolbar while at eBay. I always like to look at the auction at eBay before entering a snipe so it's just as easy.

However shortly after your post yesterday I did set up two searches. I asked AS to run every 2 hours and email me. Still no emails... Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but don't think so.

A couple of points:

1) I would not be opposed to using the "Snipe It Now" toolbar feature if there weren't so many reported problems in this newsgroups. Thanks, but no thanks.

2) You set up searches to get emails every 2 hours? LOL! Rotsa luck dude. I'm supposed to get them once a day and can go for a week at a time without getting anything.


It should be said in all of this, that AS's sniping feature works *perfectly*. Perfectly. It's just such a shame that it's such a pain to get the Auction ID#'s from within eBay,,,, have to write it down,,,, sign onto AS,,,, and setup a bid from within AS, etc.

Except for getting it to your links, I've NEVER heard of a problem with Snipe it now. No copy and paste. Click the link, and enter the amount.

I have heard of problems with the AS browser, but >This< is what I was speaking of.

I had a number of outstanding Support cases for searches not working. I had provided examples with links etc. Then one day AS had a spring clean and closed them all down. No 'ifs' no 'buts' - just gone! They obviously have no intention of getting them working - makes you wonder why they bother keeping the SEARCH tab visible. Guess what - I haven't bothered to re-submit them...

I use the Snipe-It-Now feature and it works fine for me. I have never had an AS snipe not work for me so I love the product but I am dismayed with the quality of support.

Also, if you don't want to use Snipe-It-Now then no need to use pen and paper. Just highlight the auction number, right click and choose 'Copy' then Alt | Tab to the My Snipes page then paste it in. Sounds like a good reason to load up the Snipe-It-Now feature.

What? I use this all the time, no problems. Additionally I dont see others reporting problems with it either and I do support!

As for searches I get mine every day, they work great for me. I'm sure there are some searches that dont work for some people but I believe they work for most.

I agree with Sara!! I cannot recall a complaint about "Snip it Now"! It works flawlessly for me!

I have never had a problem with the searches. Like Sara, I get mine every day as well. However, for some reason I cannot get the snipe it now. I had it in the past and it worked great. I know it must be something I am doing wrong. When I drag the snipe it now button over the toolbar it leaves 3 buttons one says 'snipe' another 'it' another 'now'. When you click on any of the buttons it says "find next occurrence of" 'snipe', 'it', or 'now'. I would like it back but I can copy and paste a number into AS without much difficulty.

Jake, go to your My Snipe page..at the top right, click Snipe It Now. Then, midway down on the left click Snipe It Now! Hold down on it and drag to the Links>> on the top right. It will make a crocked arrow of sorts...let go. That should get it. I just did it on this new computer.

I know this is as simple as it gets but I can't get it to work. I noticed every time I drug it up there and let go, my 'block pop up' number increased. When I disabled it & clicked the Snipe It Now button to drag it up to the links bar the Snipe it now box opened but it does not appear on any of my links bars. I will continue to live in the dark ages. Maybe I can catch a kid on his way to pre-school & have them fix it for me.

To get Snipe It Now working, set up an icon with this as the properties:-

Jake, yes, you will need to shut off your blocker, probably, but the box to snip it now should not open. You need to hold the curser down while you drag it and when it is in the right position over the word LINK, it will have a sort of crooked arrow..then release the curser.

This is ridiculous. I have done it in the past. Just left click & hold down on snipe-it-now & drag to where all the icons are at the top of the page and release the mouse button when the crooked arrow appears, right?

I can't handle any more of this stress right now. I'm going to Taco Bell. No MG, it doesn't guarantee food poisoning.

Well, Jake yes , but ... release it over the word LINKS, not just anywhere up there!
Now, be calm and remember that Taco Bell is a good kind place cuz drinks are free there for senior!

I don't see the LINKS anywhere. Could that be my problem. Hey Mrs. M, I bet your about ready to tell me to take a long walk on a short pier huh. Drinks arn't free for seniors here. Of course I don't quite qualify but I was with my mom.

What a dope, my links toolbar wasn't showing.

That's right Rick - they only seem to work in 'simple' mode - if you try anything clever (like want to look at ebay.co.uk !) then they seem to break. Shame, 'cos they're a great idea!

What popup blocker are you using? With the google toolbar blocker all you have to do is hold down the shift key (or is it the control key?) when you click on the link the first time and it will allow it from then on.

Jake, glad you finally got it! No short piers here! LOL! I remember back when I asked Steve and Rick questions over and over before I finally figured it out. It isn't as easy as someone being beside you showing you!
No free drinks??? OMG!! Every Taco Bell I have ever gone to had free senior drinks..do they do a discount?

R2, well, your wide screen gave me a chance to use my new 16" screen on my laptop..lol, it filled it!

I'm going back to Taco Bell tonight & ask a manager about the drinks & discounts. No free lunch in Calif. I guess. I sure do appreciate the help and moral support with my Snipe-it-Now problem. It makes me want to snipe even more. If that was AS intent it worked. Also thank you for the complaint site. I will make a comment or two maybe this evening. I have written a letter to Stihl. I will bet ya I get a response stating it was somehow my fault. A lawyer friend of mine suggested I not have a shirt & hat made that said boycott Stihl. Nuts!
