Is there a counter on the people looking at this auction somewhere? Very impressive..
Mory, Found this:
quote:
Dogfights, literally fights between two dogs in an enclosed arena, were a popular form of 'sport' in medieval times, and the practice is still continued today although it's illegal in many countries. Some dog breeds (pit bull terriers?) were bred specifically for this purpose. Unlike boxing bouts, where human contestants shuffle around waiting for an opening, dogs just pile into each other and don't stop until one is killed or injured so badly that the other is declared the winner.
So, 'dogfight' describes close combat involving a ferocious struggle between two individuals. The individuals may be dogs, magpies or war pilots.
The style of combat between planes in WWI was generally one-on-one, Allied against German, and it was perfectly sensible to call it a dogfight, since dogfights were well known and were one-on-one for the most part. The term was used in WWII for the same style of fighting.
...necessary...

Well, it was a lot of kids then!...Don't think so! They would also have to know their credit info!
...the link again for this forum page:

Interestingly enough, modern day "dogfights" (with the longrange radars & weopons systems) occur with the combatants miles apart!

We have them all summer in the woods called RFD's (Red Neck Dog Fights) $20 admission winner takes the pot - Guys make side bets.
Attended one at Point Barrow in 55 on the DEW Line - admission was one paycheck. Average 2 to 3 thousand. (we never got out to cash our checks) it progressed into a 2 day Poker game that had 300 checks in the pot. The checks were indorsed so many times there was no space on the back or front. So whomever held the check was the owner. The job stopped until they flew in a Cessna 310 with six million - to cash all the checks in camp. Then we went back to gambling with cash.

Read it now and check the bottom of the bids page LOL!!!
I'd like to know why it is listed under the "Ham Radio Antenna" category. Does it even pick up Ham Radio signals? I couldn't find a "Military Hardware > United States > Navy > Aircraft" category. What would be the proper category for this item ? Hmm, maybe it should be listed on ebaymotors.com - it certainly has a motor.
Seems a little closer, huh, Grizzly?
Hope night-effects visits the auction again...
he/she may be in for a suprise in a few days if they don't!
Does eBay send a 'You are high bidder again' e-mail?

Someone should tell her about 'Pre-Aproved Bidders Only' auctions.
tell who is her? Ohhh never mind... the seller...it must be my bedtime!
My Local new's did a story on it a couple day's ago, they said since it was a Blue Angels bird it had no weapons systems on it, It may have bomb racks of some type as a think the drop tanks hook up to some type of a bomb rack type device with pyrotechnics to jettison them if needed. other than that it amy have the palece to put the cannon, but it would be empty
The news report also said that the FBI and CIA investigated the auction/ seller and said everything was on the up and up, that this bird was destoned for the scrap heap, but fell thru the cracks ane ended up on the military surpluss auction blocks
Also the Feds put a stipulation on this auction that the aircraft cannot leave the country

Nothing about the jet sale on the news - It was taken over by: Sunday night Riots in Sidney ,& its Impact on tourism. & George Steinbrenner buying Rodriguez for a zillion. Good news was a Newfoundland won the Westminster Dog Show. Another great story of benefit to Australians got Buried. The rains that came to rescue Australia crops last year may do the same again . The wheat Harvest came to an astounding 25 million Tonnes. Barley also rebounded. As an AG Major I keep track of this.
As an aside, few people know that Australias third winter crop Oilseed Canola
favored by the US demand for Canola Oil is really boosting the Australia economy.
An Aussie spam expert announced that spam will
account for 80% of e-mail by 2007. Also Microsoft will stop selling Pop=up Adds on all its websites by this summer. Time for beddy bye. mory
