I would like to find out if what just happened to me has happened to anyone else and what recourse you took. If you look at the bids for Ebay Item #3828104704 you will see that I won the item by one cent with the final bid being placed at 18:14:53 EDT. You will also see that I placed a bid 2 seconds earliar. When I set up AS to perform the snipe for me my original intention was for the winning bid however I did modify my bid to the bid that was placed 2 seconds earliar. I would have lost but for some unknown reason to me AS bid for me twice and now I am obligated. I managed to save the page that shows my maximum bid of $185.01. I am obligated to the seller and will keep my obligation but I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and what you did to have AS rectify their error.

Looks like AS failed to cancel your earlier bid.

AS software is full of bugs, and it's acting flaky again tonight. I had a bid timed to go off at 2039 (Pacific Time) with a 13 second lead. AS simply failed to place it. No email notification, no nuthin'. In my 'Ended' list, it just shows an empty field under 'Status'.

AS is the best we've got for now, but it's unfortunate that it bought you something at a higher price than you directed. Hey-- maybe you should complain to AS 'Support'. They'll compensate you with three free snipes!!

In your dreams. Our software is the best there is, and has very few bugs if any.

Wrong again. You had 2 bids, one you won, and the other your bid was two low. Both had a status, both were correctly placed by us and the confirmation page shows that. Do you know how to use our confirmation pages?

Wrong again. You're confusing me with someone else. My bid simply wasn't placed, but that was because it was too low, or as you charmingly put it, "two low". This morning it shows up on my summary as "Bid Too Low". For several hours last night it remained blank, and I haven't had email confirmation in the last 9 hours. This doesn't matter, but it shows your software is inconsistent.

Face it: AS software is just a little flaky, and it was failing to send appropriate prompts and responses to users last night. This was the cause of northernlebars's problem. In my case it's trivial and it doesn't matter at all, but the fact it didn't update or respond shows your system is working erratically.

I estimate I get weirdness like this in only about 2% of bids, so AS is still the best we've got. It would be less annoying if AS simply admitted there are problems, and that we have to live with them.

I'm usually very thorough. I logged into your account. I found the item marked bid too low, and I clicked the confirmation link. It shows we placed the snipe. You can do this too.

Since it was showing as bid too low when I looked I can't say whether or not it was blank for a while. If it was, then it's through no fault of ours. When eBay makes changes to their site our site has to be updated. As an example if eBay changed the text we use to determine if you won or lost the item on the screen where we grab that then our system could not tell right away. We have a secondary system that comes along later and double checks. Perhaps that happened here. I wish I had checked during the period you said it was blank, then I would know. That also may be why you received no email. I'll check though, we log them and I should see if indeed an email was sent to you or not.

eBay makes thousands of changes to their site each week. If only 2% have strangeness then we're doing great, you wont find better. And I'm certain that we're placing 100% of bids. So if the 2% only has to do with weird screen updates and such then that's even better.
