Sniper Steve or SOMEONE OUT THERE,

Is it at all possible to add a real-time chat, or at least a feature that shows who's online and/or available to carry on a posting thread.

Two reasons.

The first is that activity is rather s-l-o-w, which does not encourage the users OR guests to return.

Secondly, I believe guests and newbies have intrinsically immediate questions and concerns. It doesn't appear that many posts are answered in a timely manner. This can be discouraging.

Any feedback out there from anyone??????

Neva, I do try to look at the chat list on Auction Sniper at least once per day but I don't always do it at the same time. I'm a Listowner as well as a veteran sniper and my time isn't always my own. Maybe you can try to chat well in advance of the closing time for an auction you have questions about?
Hi Steve,

So Sniper Steve and Steve Junior Member are one and the same? Glad to meet you both! haha

Actually, I don't (didn't) have a question at the time of my previous posting on this subject. However, there was a guest here asking a question at the very time I was perusing the Community. (The question was about "double sniping.") I took a stab at answering, not a very good/concise one.

I've noticed a couple of other times posts entered at the very same time I've been here.

Steve, I certainly wouldn't expect you to be watching the posts at all hours of the day. In my post I requested feedback. So here's a feedback/question to pose: Perhaps you might encourage the occasional participation of other veteran snipers/AS members "pump up" the community for newbies, guests and regulars. I see that as added value and PR in tandem.

My personal want-to-have is a Who's Online Now feature. I have no clue whether anyone else would like that, or even what mountains might have to be moved to do such a thing. I just put it out there since I'd like it and I think it would help increase traffic (and clients).

Comments or Suggestions?

I suppose that "Sniper Steve" and "Steve Junior Member" are one and the same, Neva. It's entirely possible that there are more than one "Steves" who use Auction Sniper. "Junior Member" is a bit misleading since I was one of the Beta testers for Auction Sniper in its earlier form of BidSniper. Makes me kinda wonder who gets to be a "Senior Member." Smile

You wrote, "Perhaps you might encourage the occasional participation of other veteran snipers/AS members 'pump up' the community for newbies, guests and regulars. I see that as added value and PR in tandem."

I don't have access to the identities of other members any more than you do. They have to chime in on their own initiative, and I believe some of them have done so from time to time. There's been an awful lot of good information handed out in the Chat feature so I think some veterans *are* chipping in. My suggestion at this time is to hang in there and see what, if anything, develops from your notion. It certainly would be good value and PR if the powers that be can figure some way to organize some form of prompt feedback and still protect members' privacy.
Steve,

I think you're having been an early beta tester certainly requires a more distinguishing title. It is obvious from your posts you have a great deal of experience in sniping and using Auction Sniper.

You may not have access to the member list, but the Powers That Be (hereinafter, PTB) can handle that one. However, you are experienced enough with Auction Sniper to recognize others that demonstrate fair to good knowledge here, and I'm certain your personal charm would go a long way toward encouraging them. Big Grin

If you're referring to this Community and its forums as a Chat feature, I would humbly beg to differ. Chat is generally considered a feature much more closely resembling real-time interaction, or some form of communication that has the distinct characteristic of immediacy.

With my best curtsey, Steve, I revise a previous post's statement to the following:

"Perhaps the Powers That Be (PTB) might encourage the occasional participation of other veteran snipers/AS members to 'pump up' the community for newbies, guests and regulars. I see that as added value and PR in tandem."

In any case, the ownership of this issue really lies in the hands of the PTB if Auction Sniper is to establish a solid base of support in their members. We members cannot set policy or practice; we can, however, facilitate.
