You have a good point there, Rick. I seem to recall that Oli went to Iraq, and Basra(h) is a major seaport in Iraq.

No idea why everyone misses off the 'h' in Basrah - all the signs around the city have the 'h' at the end (or so Oli tells me!). You'll be pleased to know that he is safely back at home in the UK although it's a bit cool after the desert heat!

Maybe I'm the only one - again? But basrah seems to have VERY close ties with oli. I'm starting to think I'm playing that game (I think it's "Clue") where you have to figure out who the killer is. Even basrah's latest picture might be the same guy in the previous picture that basrah left. I'm pretty sure that basrah is a trickster, or a conjurer. Maybe I'm to young to figure this out. Do we have a great-granny or a gramps that understands the basrah-oli connection?

Nope, that's still fallacious. A syllogism is based on the "if...then" principle. If this is true, then that also must be true. That works in mathematics, but in linguistics it's fraught with danger. "If it's raining, then the sun isn't shining." False. Ever hear of a "sun shower?" Where do rainbows come from? There is rarely an absolute in generalizations.

As a result of this latest exchange with Steve, I've come to two conclusions:
1) Steve may have, or could, do something that's not good for this forum.
2) Since Steve and I burned up 7 posts on a discussion of ceramics, I think your posts have been a "good" thing.
I think you remind many of us of our own grannies (Steve REALLY reminds me of my gramps), so you're in "good" (I think Steve will nail me on that word) company. I find your posts entertaining, and it's a lot better then those with the angry faces.
Also, who in their right minds would criticize a sweet great-grandmother. Actually, something you might do would be considered hip, where as for someone else it wouldn't. I kind of envy you. It doesn't seem to work for older men, commonly called "The old f _ _ t" (redundant phrase).
It appears that if you keep the language fairly clean, or if you DO use a 4 letter word that it's OK if you use the hangman method. Or with initials, asterisks, dollar signs, and blanks you can say about anything (I've always wondered why that is).
