Howdy fellas. Was wondering if anyone can give me an expert advice on how I should bid on this item MAKITA
Ive always bid on even numbers and lets just say my MAX bid on this item is 25.00,do i bid at 24.91 or some odd number?
I have used AS for a few months now and I feel that im doing something wrong, all the auctions ive won are the ones that im the only bidder and if not that I bid too high thats why I think i won it...lols
Thanks

HI. The best way I have found is
1. Find the gizmo on ebay,
2. Use eBays, completed section (see left hand colum on the ebay page) and ask for them to be shown lowest price first (option just above the listings) . That way you can see what is the lowest price for that gizmo and what an adverage price is for that gizmo.

Then, set up a Bid Group folder for that gizmo on AS. Find all of those gizmos you can and put them into AS's Bid Group folder at the max price you want to pay.
I tend to stay on the low side of the adverage or even just above the minimum paid. Sooner or later you will win one at a good savings. You just have to hang in there and wait.
It just depends on how anxious you are to win. and you are right to use odd numbers, but it would make more sense to use the 59, 69, 79, etc than 91. But that is just my thoughts.
Good Luck.
Win,

The odd bid amount seems to be very popular, and perhaps more so with snipers. It might have something to do with having just one shot. And, AS does list it in their “Tips”. Hard to say exactly “what” makes an odd amount “odd”. If it’s 27.77, what happens if someone else bids 27.79? Being aware of the increments can be helpful, but I don’t think anyone has the definitive answer. Probably just boils down to preferences, guess work, and luck.
Thanks Rick.I will just bid whatever I think is the fair price and hope for the best.
Thanks

You should bid $25.91 (for example) if your Max is $25.00, then you will win over someone who also thinks the widget is worth $25.00.

You are looking at exactly the right area W.I.A. you even have the "Completed Listings" box ticked.

Shop seems to work the same way I do, have a look at what the item has been selling for in the past.....pick the low side price and create a bid group.

So, you would use that information to gather what *ebay* thinks your Makita is worth, then if you agree.....create a bid group and add items to it until you win yourt Makita for the price you want.

Might take 3 items, might take 300 (sorry AS if it does). Razz
