OK! I'd like to pick the brains of you more experienced sellers! For some of you that might be slim pickings! Wink

I have a Personal PayPal account, which means I can't accept credit card payments. In spite of telling my buyers that I can't handle credit card payments through PayPal, I just got my first! Roll Eyes

Well, OK, I was at the PayPal site trying to figure out if I want to upgrade to the Premier account to accept the payment and be done with it. I understand the fee schedule of a percentage of sale PLUS $0.30 flat fee for each credit card transaction. What I'm NOT clear on is this: if I have a Premier account, are ALL received payments subject to the fee schedule (both credit card AND bank fund payments)?

If it is ONLY the credit card payments subject to the fees, I might make the upgrade, but if PayPal gets a cut of ALL received payments -- I'm not sure my low volume justifies the expense.

Advice please?! Smile

PayPal charges Premier and Business accounts to receive payments. Personal accounts are free, but may not receive credit card payments.

If you receive a payment from a user in another country, an additional cross border fee will be charged. The cross border fee is an additional 1% for U.S. Dollar payments and 0.5% for Canadian Dollar, Euro, Pound Sterling, and Yen payments. This cross border fee is currently waived for Canadian sellers receiving payments from U.S. buyers.

* If your transaction involves a currency conversion, it will be completed at a retail foreign exchange rate determined by PayPal, which is adjusted regularly based on market conditions. This exchange rate includes a spread above the wholesale exchange rate at which PayPal obtains foreign currency, and the spread is retained by PayPal. The specific exchange rate that applies to your multiple currency transaction will be displayed at the time of the transaction

If you are not selling much, I'd return it to him and tell him no credit cards, but if you intend to sell a lot, it will make you money. I probably gey 80% credit cards!

Hi Mrs.M!

I was at the PayPal site and just wanted to verify that I am reading it right. It appears an upgrade from personal to premier account means I ADD the ability to receive cred.crd payments (with associated fees), but I LOSE the ability to receive bank account payments for FREE. In other words, it appears the same fees applied to credit card payments are ALSO applied to bank account payments??

Is my understanding correct?
