Could you tell me how much over $12.50 would be acceptable to have won that auction?
“To have won”? No way of knowing. That would be controlled by the top bidder’s proxy bid. For ebay to “accept” the bid, it had to be the amount AS specified in their “outbid alert email”.

If I get an example of how to win, that may help me.
Example #1: Top bidder’s proxy bid (typically an unknown amount) + 1 ebay increment (one can sometimes win by being + $.01 but don’t go down that path until you see one – trust me).

Example #2: Bid $1,000,000.01 (odd bid amounts are recommended).

PortCity ~ In order for your snipe bid to be accepted by eBay, your snipe amount must be in the incremental unit required on that particular auction.

Prior to setting your snipe bid, check the auction you wish to snipe and see what increment is being used, then bid accordingly.

For example: You want to win an item that is currently $10. The bid increment is 50 cents. You must make your snipe in 50 cent increments, ie: $11.00 or $11.50 or $12.00

If the bid incredment is, say, $2.00, you must in $2.00 increments, such as $12, $14, $16. etc.

Hope this helps!
Yes, I see the bid increments, but at the last few seconds of the auction, I always bid a few cents over the bid increment--which is how I won many an auction. Just this time, I bid 15 cents over the increment. I just always thought that no matter what the last bid was, it would always go to the highest bidder irregardless what the increment was on the last bid. Am I wrong on this? Then why do people win on just 5 cents over the last bid? I'm sorry, does this make sense?
