is it possible for all 3 snipes to be used in one auction?
Nope. Only one snipe per auction. (only one bid is place for you, but from four different locations) and are only charged the free snipe if you win.

Note that if you snipe and also manually bid and win, you will be charged a fee or free snipe, even if it was the manual bid that won the auction.

... and to the forum.

thanks that's good to know.

so I've set my lead time to 7 seconds for an auction that is ending on Thursday night - Any advice? more or less lead time given time of day?

and.. so all I have to worry is for other snipers right, getting in at faster lead times?

question for the future - what happens when a large # of people end up using sniping software - the system may become oversaturated with snipers and then the focus becomes the technology that drives the fastest lead times???....something to ponder!!

If your auction ends in the evening and on an exact quarter hour (or a few seconds before) I would add a little more lead time. Maybe double that.

Actually, no. Sniping is to prevent bidding wars by placing bids very late. You CAN still get outbid. Remember that the bid amount that is showing on eBay may or MAY NOT be the other persons actual maximum. It's not the last bid that wins, it's the highest.

Sorry if I'm showing you something you already know, but >CLICK HERE< to learn about proxy bidding.

My personal choice is to use 8 seconds during normal times! On Sunday, during primetime, PST, PM between 5 and 8:30, I add 15 seconds. On the hour, half, and quarter hour, I add 10 seconds. These are very busy traffic times for Ebay. It works for me! Remember to bid your max as the highest bid wins! Happy Sniping!!

So that would be a lead time of 23 seconds?

Wait, you add 10 seconds to the original 8 seconds or you add 10 seconds to your already adjusted lead time of 23 seconds, which would be 33 seconds lead time?

I think you mean 8, 23, & 33 seconds, but have always thought your explanations requiring the multiple additions challenging! Wink

Welcome.

Actually, you are looking at sniping and AS as something new, possibly because they are new to you. Both have been around for a few years, and snipers still represent only a tiny fraction of eBay users. This question has been asked before, and the response is that eBay has 50 million members and growing, so snipers will always account for a sliver of users. This is especially true for the majority who just get on eBay and do not spend time learning bidding strategies and all of the nuances--they just bid! Big Grin
