It just hit me.

We know that Sunday evenings draw the most bidders. We also know that quarter hours are the most busy, and some bids don’t get placed.

If you are going to time when your auction ends, it just makes sense to have your auction end on a Sunday evening, and about 5 minutes after a quarter hour! This is when you have the most people sitting in front of their monitors ready to bid, and the frenzy is over. More bids get accepted, and a greater chance of a higher bid coming in!

Is this a new idea, or am I just slow? Watcha think?

Puppy,

I think the strategy of intentionally targeting in between quarter hours is not bad. I've always tried to target Sunday, but have not targeted specific times...YET!

Thanks for the times tip, Mrs.M!

Do you sellers out there use the scheduling feature available in ebay setup, where you can designate a specific time for the auction to begin (thereby setting the time the auction ends)? I haven't used it yet, since I didn't want to pay the extra ebay fee. Wink

I imagine some do and some don't. Brick and Morter places probably do more often than not.

Scheduling allows you to enter your auction during the week while you’re at work, and still let your auction end on Sunday while you’re at home playing with the kids.

OK, we all know about the Sunday night, quarter of the hour eBay traffic congestion. I didn't fully understand why all the sellers insisted on scheduling their auctions to end on the quarter hours during these high traffic times, Confused UNTIL....

I was going to schedule an auction of my own, for the first time. I wanted it to end Sunday night at 7:08 pm (taking puppy's suggestion). So when I got to the scheduling section on ebay, it isn't a "fill-in-the-blank" value, it is a click from a drop-down menu. And the drop-down list is only quarter hour times!

Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! NOW I understand!!!! Roll Eyes All these sellers are using the scheduling feature in eBay so their auctions ended during the high traffic times (Sunday night), but are FORCED to select a quarter-hour end time.

Now, are there any listing programs out there (separate from eBay) that allows you to enter & setup an auction that you can schedule to be submitted to eBay on a specific date at a specific non-quarter-hour, such as 7:08 pm or 7:22 pm? Of course, I would want it to be FREE or cheap! Wink

I still think Puppy's suggestion of targeting in between times might be a good strategy. Smile

Have you heard of Ebay Sellers Assistant Pro? Its got a 30 day trial download. Maybe that has something you are after.

I had a quick look around, but couldn't find anything on Ebay Item Scheduling.
