Yesterday evening Auction Sniper failed to bid and I lost an auction that ended with no bids! (170039516662). All it says on my snipe list is that I didn't win. The item was on for £7.99 and my maximum bid was well over that so why didn't it work? This item was for my Autistic son who has worn out his others and you can't buy them anymore so I am very disappointed. Can I still trust Auction Sniper, please tell me what went wrong?

I'd add, alternatively, smreynard, you could of course propose to him to relist the item as a Buy-It-Now (at the same original price, or even with a few dollars added, if it's important enough for you). With this on-ebay transaction, you also shouldn't have to give an explanation for missing it before.

I've done this twice when I've missed items (my own fault), inviting the seller to relist as a Buy-It-Now and even add a dollar or two for good measure. Both times the seller was perfectly happy to list as a Buy-It-Now at the same original starting price plus the dollar or two. They were relatively cheap items, though.

Well, first I put on my reading glass, but couldn’t find the BIN. Then asked my seeing-eye dog if he could find it. Now, my dog (Obie) is notorious for lying, but I trust him this time.

I don’t see any difference between the two auctions?
I think I confused you. The seller has offered to put a BIN on it of £12. I agree the auction is the same as before but as it ends on a Sunday again I will have to trust AS to snipe it as I will be at work. The point I was making was that if AS had worked properly I would have already bought the item for £7.99 and not have to risk not winning it next week.
Listen – no one placed a bid on the first auction, so it’s unlikely anyone, other then you, will bid on this auction. Place a proxy bid – it’s very likely you’ll get it for £7.99. Even if you have to do the BIN, it’s only £4.01 more then the original auction’s starting bid. You said that your “maximum bid was well over that”, so you were obviously prepared to pay more for the shoes, and for all I know, that maximum bid of yours may have been over £12.00.

If I was concerned about “my Autistic son”, I would spend less time focusing on £4.01, and more concerned about getting the shoes for him – but that’s me.

I don’t normally get this way, but you sound like you’re more interested in “woe is me-ing” then in solving any specific issue.
I wouldn't know if you normally get this way or not, as I've only registered on this forum today. It seems like a typical forum really where people tend to digress from the original subject and make personal comments. I posted in the first place to try to find out what the problem had been with AS and nobody has answered that. I have used it many times before without cause for complaint.
My son's autism was only mentioned in the first instance because it means he doesn't like change and therefore it is good to replace an item with another of the same. I have just successfully replaced his Bionicle toothbrush on Ebay and was hoping to do the same with the trainers. By the way, even though they are listed as RRP of £50 I actually bought the original pair direct from the Lego website for £12.50 complete with the masks which are missing from these, hence my reluctance to pay over the odds.
