Well, this is no good. Been waiting all week for an item and depended on this service to place bid while I was away. When I finally got on to the site (couldn't get on for the longest time) Sara said it was going to be down for a while. How are we supposed to know this if we cannot get onto the site???? Missed this item--most undependable. Changing to another service, my friend uses. She doesn't seem to have any problem with her service. You should notify ahead of time or send out a bulletin to all users. This is ridiculous. Need a refund on account.

Hmm - there are two sites - Auction Sniper and AS Community - which one was down? What happened with your snipe - was it too late, were you outbid? I'm confused!

3.

Ditto for me. I sent the following e-mail to support@auction sniper.com after I lost on two auctions that I was bidding on:

To Whom It May Concern,

I registered with your service this morning, and wow, am I glad I didn't give you my credit card information. I tried to log onto both Auction Sniper and Auctiva after lunch, but the websites are gone. I was bidding on two items using your service, and I would have won one of them. If you are a legitimate company, then your contingency planning sucks and I doubt that I want to do business with you. If you are sitting on a beach somewhere in Costa Rica as you read this, with all the money you scammed from customers accounts sitting in an offshore bank somewhere, I applaud you, and I am even more glad that I didn't give you my
credit card information.

Sincerely,

What a load of absolute "Tosh"

Talk about whinge - don't you ever make a mistake?

On the whole AS are pretty good, things do go wrong and some of it is beyond their control.

To accuse them of being "scam artists" is beyond belief. That, certainly, they are not.

People like you are always losers in life because you simply don't know how to talk to, or treat others.

Time you sorted yourself out - this was, after all, only an auction! If minor events in life bring upon these ranting fits, perhaps you should look at yourself in the mirror while you do it!

To put it succinctly, the rest of us think you are stark raving bonkers!

Goodbye - have a good life down on the "Happy Farm"
Okay, I didn't write the "To Whom It May Concern," but I did feel almost the same way. All I am saying is that I think they should notify their customers--who depend on them to do their job--about these down times and do it ahead of time. It's called customer service. Rick, you are such a sweetie. Whenever I get someone who comes storming in on my posts, you always come through with a small chuckle. Thank you! I don't end up feeling like such a twit (even though I didn't write the "Who It May Concern"!)
Confused,
How would you feel if the first time you ever used Auction Sniper (I registered 4 hours prior to the auction) the system failed. It cost me over $120.00. I sat and watched myself lose the auction on ebay. I then filed a support request and they tell me I should have checked the message boards to see that the system was down.
Had I known to do that, I would have attempted it. Unfortunately, all links to AS and their other company Auctiva were DEAD! Kind of hard to check the message boards when you can't access the site. Apparently, I was not the only person affected, as some of the other posts indicate. If AS comes foreward with a plan to deal with situations like this, I might consider using this site again. Until then, I keeping trying to snipe the old fashioned way.
I don't have a dog in this fight as I had no snipes scheduled during the outage period. However, from what I've read, wasn't this an unforeseen/unplanned outage?

OK, and if I'm going to be struck by lightning, I INSIST to be notified of same at least 24 hours in advance!
Well, I find it interesting that this type of thing does not occur to my friend who uses another service that does the exact same thing. I seem to recall this service being down awhile ago as well. I could be wrong, but does anyone else remember the site being down for some reason? I didn't pay any attention, because I didn't have any scheduled snipes. Rick, help me here. Do you remember such a time or am I delusional? In my case, it was those 70's!
Port,

Typically AS posts such outages to the following forum:
https://community.auctionsniper.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/975608021

The impressive thing is that AS doesn’t delete those threads. In fact, come back in a couple of weeks, or a couple of months, or even a couple of years and yesterday’s will still be there.

And I thought it was the 60’s (but I forget). They say if you can remember the 60’s then you weren’t there (or something like that).
I have used two other sniping programs (isnipeit and bidsniper); both went out of business without warning, causing me to lose several auctions. The Auction Sniper problem was a one-time glitch, and it sounds like they are taking steps to avoid this happening again. Of course I am disappointed that I lost three winnable items yesterday. But overall AS has been astonishingly reliable.

Who has your money? Ask for it back!

but not this time - I lost out too - I understand that it was just one of those things though and it cost me no actual money. However, I'm now haggling with a rival collector over the item I missed - it'll cost me lots!

Oh Oh....is portcity34 Rick?? ?? ?? ?? ? ??

Sorry portcity Smile I have had a few too many cups of tea this morning.

Seriously though, sorry you had a bummer of an experience with AS first time. I understand your grumpiness.

Have you contacted AS Support to see if you are entitled to some free snipes?

Hope you decide to stick around Smile
