I lost a snipe.... it was an international one, and my max bid was $40... it said "not in time"... I looked at another message on here, and this person got the same thing I did... this was an international product, so maybe there is a bug with it...

this is really disappointing, because I could have just bought the thing with a regular bid...

when AS first came out, I was very impressed, but it seems like everyday something else goes wrong with it... now it wont even show me "ebay's response"... and today when I tried to log in, it was taking in excess of 4 minutes for a page to come up....

maybe if AS wasnt using the POS .NET infratructure to do this, it might be a little more reliable.

You're credit card on file has expired. Are you sure we even added the snipe for you?

My guess is that when you went to add it we gave an error message saying we couldnt add it, and you probably just didnt see that and assumed we had added the snipe.

When you sign in and look at the "My Snipes" tab there is a big message in the top right of the page explaining that your credit card has expired.

Perhaps you have another account with us because you did say you got the "not in time" message. I need your sniper username so I can find your account and check this out more.

We have noticed that your credit card has either expired or an invalid credit card number is on file with us. To continue sniping, please activate your account by updating your credit card info, click here to update. You can also add balance to your account. For more payment information please click here.

So much for diversity! Eek

The person leaves a 4 paragraph post, and now the focus is on only 5 words ("when AS first came out")?

Does it really make THAT much difference how long someone's has been on this forum (most AS users don't post on this forum), or how long someone has used AS? Even if it's recent, this person might be a quick learner, while other's with longer experience might be slow learners.

(post nibblers Roll Eyes )
No disrespect is intended, and this is not directed to any specific member.

At times we encourage diversity, but then at other times, not a LOT of diversity. We seem to want to encourage new members, but only the "right kind".

I think any time that all the posts on a give topic agree that there must be something intrinsically wrong (I know - generalization). I'll admit that the Romanian was a bit much, and I've done more then my fair share of attacks on the "AS should only place the first sniper's snipe" people.

Most AS snipers don't post. Some of them do, only when they have lost a snipe. Maybe they leave a mad icon. Maybe they say "screwed" or "pissed" or "sucks". I'll be the first to admit that in the past I was fairly intolerant with them.

Steve, you once wrote, "... The forum is infinitely better with a variety of points of view and ways of expressing them." I agree with it, and it's been haunting me for the last 6 weeks.

I left that previous post because I wanted to encourage nmpike to come back. I couldn't understand why it was necessary to pick out just 5 words, other then to try to discredit them, or to discourage nmpike's return. Again, I'm not trying to single out any one person.

There's a hand full of us that have been "active" on this forum for a fair amount of time. We "know" each other so well we can probably predict each other's responses, and even how long it will take. We pretty much leave the same-old-same-old. But everyone once in a while someone like abbatazappa (by the way, we never answered this one: https://community.auctionsniper.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=84260069&f=785608021&m=108600533 ) comes around and gives us something we haven't thought of: https://community.auctionsniper.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=84260069&f=785608021&m=605609133&r=138600533#138600533 .

Also, look at nmpike's 1st post: https://community.auctionsniper.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=84260069&f=385608021&m=526608451 - Sounds like someone that might be a benefit to this forum.

If I was nmpike, and I had to very carefully pick my words (which I feel like I do), maybe I wouldn't come back.

I'd like to see this forum as robust as possible.

I see where you're coming from, Rick, but I don't think the intent was to "pick on" anyone, just an off-the-cuff observation. Be that as it may, there is no point in flying off the handle as a couple of Forum regulars have done recently. That has a greater potential for driving away Forum participants than anything else. Anyone can beg to differ with what another has written about anything, but it raises hackles when it's done in a waspish fashion. If you're irritated, take a deep breath and count to ten before replying. Smile

That's why I posted.

"Irritated"? - Nope. I was being diverse. Also, I counted for 30 minutes to two hours. But the "count to ten" is ALWAYS a good rule for anyone.
I made the observation and speculation that I did, not to discourage any participation in this forum, but to point out that the OP's style and content were hardly commensurate with a courteous introduction to this forum.

This was not a matter of isolating a few words from the remainder of the text; rather, it was highlighting that the title, tone, and content of the post, from start to finish, were a bit strong for someone who appeared to be less than fully informed.

The best possible result would be for the member to see as much and continue to participate cordially with all of us. I would welcome that! Wink
If I may interject - and please forgive the late post, but I just got home from work, but I didn't see anything offensive or personal about mmpike's post.
Strong opinion? maybe, A bit frustrated? most definitely so, but in taking his comments at face value without personalizing them, I would say mmpike just made the forum a little livelier! Wink

When I first joined the forum a few weeks ago I have to say that I had the impression that I had to "fit in" to the cliche that was already established.
I felt that newcomers were at a definite disadvantage in that they may often express viewpoints that the established group weren't interested in.

I agree with Rick in that it is the acceptance of new people and the diversity of viewpoints they bring that make the forum interesting and fun!
