At times we encourage diversity, but then at other times, not a LOT of diversity. We seem to want to encourage new members, but only the "right kind".
I think any time that all the posts on a give topic agree that there must be something intrinsically wrong (I know - generalization). I'll admit that the Romanian was a bit much, and I've done more then my fair share of attacks on the "AS should only place the first sniper's snipe" people.
Most AS snipers don't post. Some of them do, only when they have lost a snipe. Maybe they leave a mad icon. Maybe they say "screwed" or "pissed" or "sucks". I'll be the first to admit that in the past I was fairly intolerant with them.
Steve, you once wrote, "... The forum is infinitely better with a variety of points of view and ways of expressing them." I agree with it, and it's been haunting me for the last 6 weeks.
I left that previous post because I wanted to encourage nmpike to come back. I couldn't understand why it was necessary to pick out just 5 words, other then to try to discredit them, or to discourage nmpike's return. Again, I'm not trying to single out any one person.
There's a hand full of us that have been "active" on this forum for a fair amount of time. We "know" each other so well we can probably predict each other's responses, and even how long it will take. We pretty much leave the same-old-same-old. If I was nmpike, and I had to very carefully pick my words (which I feel like I do), maybe I wouldn't come back.
I'd like to see this forum as robust as possible.
