But is was not a nastygram - (I keep hearing about how people get these nastygrame ) and am looking forward to my first - like an obscene phone call. The underbidder just wanted to ask if she could buy a yard of the fabric I just sniped. It was more than I needed anyway so we agreed to split it. Furthermore we made an alliance not to bid against one another and that just one of us would bid on things we both wanted but there was enough to split. We will both save money that way. Also it gives me (a non US bidder) a US mailing address for the sellers who don't want to take international bids. Now I am hoping to convert my new friend to sniping. She prefers to bid up front with a high proxy. Just goes to show that sniping can win you friends and influence people.

I received an email from an underbidder a few days ago. His delightful message was: "Snipers suck, enjoy your item" I was really floored. I emailed the seller and expressed my opinion (which is the right one, by the way!) that it is called an "auction" because the item is up for grabs till the bitter end. She agreed with me. If the disgruntled underbidder doesn't want any competition, he should only go for buy it nows or just go to the rassin' frassin' mall and buy the item retail! sheesh! I'm a really nice lady, but I want my widgets, and I'll go in the back door to get 'em! I've lost many an auction myself at the last minute, and it is a disappointment, sure, but folks, remember one thing.....it's only STUFF. Keep smilin!
I have been the recipient of more than a few "nastygrams" over the years, as I have always been a sniper.

Some were more disconcerting than others. Some were sour grapes, some were crybabies, some were people genuinely disappointed they did not get the item, and some were just shocked as they already had that feeling of "ownership" of the item, and honestly did not realize they had not won until they went back later, as they checked on the item a couple of minutes before it closed, but not right when it closed.

The silly thing about it, there almost always will always be another up on eBay.

You know, when you received that nastygram, it had the sender's email address on it. The sender had to use eBay's system to contact you since you didn't have an auction contract with said person. The only way they could contact you was via that user ID/password method. However, for the sender, that leaves an email trail.

You could always complain to eBay - not that it would do any good - but I don't think harrassing other bidders is tolerated, that's is why eBay has the contact system set up that way.

Funny (and sad too) how people treat each other when they THINK they are anonymous.*

I certainly would not try and offer these people anything... AS is a great site and the best kept secret on the web. I tell my really good friends (all have loved it) about it, but only my really good friends!

I simply have to laugh at these miserable people with bad attitudes, they are so hostile and only get satisfaction out of insulting and inflicting hurt on others. Let them wallow in there misery and spend the rest of their lives getting sniped and frustrated. They deserve it!

Like this guy: I received a post snipe email once from another bidder which said simply "Hey, good job. I didn't really want this shirt; I just wanted to drive up the price!"

???

The auction was for a "Monster's Inc." hawaiin print shirt no longer available from Disney. I had been looking for one for a while and noticed that there weren't that many available on ebay, but for some reason one seller had a lot and would post only a few at a time. I lost a few auctions because I didn't want to pay more than $60 or so, and noticed that some bidders would get it for cheap if they lucked out on the bidding.

I did a search with this guy's ID and sure enough, he had just won one for about $68.00, and thanks to auction sniper and a little patience, i got mine for only $45.00. He had placed a bid earlier in the week just because he was pissed that he paid so much and someone else was getting it cheaper! If he hadn't bid at all, I would have gotten it for under $30.

What an a**hole.
Never got a "nice" email from someone I sniped before - what a nice thing to see! Got a digital camera NIB from a seller w/no negs or neutrals for $10.50 and -YES- I sent him a link & signed him up! Checked his bidding history & the poor guy really needed AS! I feel like a new mama - gonna watch the boy & see if he can fly now! These bidgroups are the BEST! Big Grin
as a newbie,i feel to get it off my chest because i join snipers cause i couldn't beat them, think of it this way you place a bid and it is yours you know you've won it 5 min down 4,3 and so on, next thing you know the last 3 sec. your out bid. OUCH!! It's knida like
right at the peek of an orgazim and your child walks in!! it's frustrating to say the least! But like ya said it's only stuff, and chances are if it was there once it'll be back on auction again.
Ok I'm done that was my piece of all the nasty e-mails I never sent. Thanks Big Grin Razz
Cary, your remarks only reinforce what I've been saying all along: bid your maximum whether you're sniping or not. It wouldn't have been so much of an "ouch" experience if you had bid as much as you were willing to spend. At least that way if you lose (and snipers lose, too) you know that somebody paid more for that doodad than you were willing to pay. And as you say, there'll always be another time. Wink
Hi,

I have been a lucky guy so far... I have won almost every item I want via manual snisping. That's the reason that makes me wonder if I really want to sign with this service.

Anyway... You said that you received mails from underbidder... Well.. I have SENT mails to outbidder snipers that outbid my bookmark bid the within the last minute... I always wish them luck next time.

I always laught a lot when I imagine them reading the message "You're the Higher bidder" second before the closing time (with a satisfying smile in his/her face), and when they reload the view item page the noticed that I am the real winner.

Perhaps they use a service like this, perhaps dont... whatever... It's a kind of game between the snipers community and me.
