ska8ter,

Say the following:
One Mississippi
Two Mississippi
Three Mississippi

Do you really think that those 2 extra, or even all 3, Mississippi’s will allow another sniper enough time to react? By “react” I mean for them to see your snipe, and then place an additional snipe in retaliation to yours? And, to “react” they would have to be a manual sniper, not one using software or a sniping service. Even if the other sniper had one window opened watching the bids and refreshing like a madman, and another window opened with a bid already set, that would have to be one Super-Sniper to accomplish it. Just refreshing is going to eat up one or two or more of those Mississippi’s, and jumping over to the bid window is going to take some unknown quantity of Mississippi’s, no matter how quick-minded and dexterous one is. Try it, and if you can do it manually, then I’ll be the first one to buy your book titled, “How to Respond to a Snipe in Three Mississippi’s”. Even with the help of a partner or using two computers, it would still be considered an Olympic event.

Well Look..... It say's 3 seconds, it's like the lowest you can go... But it actually goes to about 7 when you put it a three. I've seen it and tested it also. And 9 seconds for sure you can react...

Well look it at this way. Let's say you want to put a max bid at 25.00 and you bid but at the last part of the auction somebody puts a bid at 28.50... belive me most ebayers if they see that they will go past 28.50... and even 6 seconds you can react to it, belive me I've done it multible times.

And I do think partly sometimes (depends on the situation) that if your there watching it you should change it to be a little longer. If i do that.. I have the page up of the auction I'm sniping on and then I have another page of where you put the bid amount in. So it's easier. But you have to remember when you do that and you click submit it goes to another page and say's "confirm bid". But I agree with some reply's and other's I don't but it's your opion's.

But I still think they should change it your right about if you do it at 3 seconds nobody has the time to react to that but I think that you should have the option for it?

I appreciate all of the reply's.
There was a time when 1 second could be specified. Back then there were LOTS of “not-in-time” complaints, and lots of posts telling new users they should specify anywhere from 10 to 25 seconds on auctions ending during ebay’s prime times. Then AS changed the minimum to 5 seconds, and, as you can see by the following link, it was changed to a minimum of 3 seconds:
https://community.auctionsniper.com/eve/ubb.x/a/tpc/f/38...911093801#7911093801

Before AS dropped 1 and 2-second snipes, questions about lead-time were probably the most common ones to appear on the forum from new members. Now, it’s not very often when that comes up.

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for AS to return to allowing 1-second snipes.

Actually, since AS places the snipe when IT thinks it should, I somewhat question the value of even being able to specify a lead-time. I guess it gives everyone something to think/talk/speculate about.

Since when does 's make a plural? Just occasionally I get on my anti-Apostrophe-abuse high horse and today is one of those days. Last night a Pizza menu came through the door selling pizza's, pasta's and salad's... Aaaargh! Wink

I agree - AS should specify a target range and then all this banter would go away.

It is a known fact that only market traders on fruit and veg stalls are allowed to do this.

Their logic is fascinating as well. If there is an "R" in the month and it is raining, you will see:
Potato's carrot's tomatoes radishes
And otherwise:
Potatoes carrot's tomato's radish's

Small boy surreptitiously wipes off part of the "R" in butcher's sign - it said "RISSOLES".

Boy asks butcher: "Have you any pissoles?"
Butcher: "Don't be smart - do you mean rissoles?"
Boy: "It says PISSOLES"
Butcher looks: "It should say "R" "
Boy "OK - have you got any arseholes?"
Smile
