Even if everyone bidding on eBay used AS, the results would still depend on who had the highest bid. Someone else might get a bid in at the very last microsecond, after you had put yours in, but unless that final bid was high enough to beat yours, it wouldn't matter. And you'd have an advantage, because if that final bid was the same amount as your bid, you'd win because in case of ties the tie bid that was placed first wins with eBay. Wink
Hi Man of Steele-

I understand how you feel. There's a part of me that feels that way too. But I still tell my friends about AS. The first time I lost an auction I REALLY, REALLY wanted on eBay to a sniper (before I knew about AS) I was pretty upset. For a while it even took some of the fun out eBay for me. It wasn't long after that I discovered AS, and I've been having a ball ever since! Big Grin
And guess what -- 2 nights ago, I sniped an auction out from under the very person who sniped me on that auction I got so upset about!! We both sniped, but my snipe was higher than his/her snipe. Big Grin Big Grin I haven't quit grinning since! If I had placed my bid on eBay, the other person would have known ahead of time I was interested and might have been able to gauge how much I was willing to bid. Wink

Lets just put it this way...

eBay receives over 50,000 new user signups a day. We've been around quite a while and dont even have that many. And that doesn't even count the 42 million+ current eBay members.

So unless we start getting like 100,000 signups a day, which wont be happening, I think it's safe to share. Half the fun of winning the item is not knowing if you're going to win I think. Smile

I know exactly how you feel, the thrill of the kill (as it were) i LOVE THIS PROGRAM) i call it bidding in stealth mode ( that's what i call it) they don't even know your interested in it and then BOOOOM! you drop the bomb on them LOL! i was getting fed up with losing to others and now i only lose if i want to, now i never get sucked into a bidding war and end up paying more that i wanted to. This program pays for itself. It makes it fun to bid!
I agree with the above poster who said its like lurking and stalking and lying in ambush. The thrill of the chase is half the fun of getting the widgit. So you have to take losing philosophically. I've lost a couple of snipes lately to higher proxies but when (in the last few minutes of the auction) I saw the bidding heading up towards my max I had mentally began to say "goodbye" to the widget anyway! At least I have the satisfaction of knowing I made the other person pay dearly for what they got. I am on a budget and sometimes I have to say to myself that if I win snipe 1 (expensive) then I may not be able to afford snipes 2 & 3 - but I have my "prize" to console me. But if I lose out on no 1 I just move along to nos 2 & 3 and have the thrill of stalking them to look forward to. That's what I'd compare it to for me - the hunter stalking his/her prey. And sometimes the hunter misses so the prey gets away or another hunter bags it. The new items may not be exactly the same (in my collecting category they seldom are) but I know that whenever I lose something else will be along to attract me in a week or so. So then the hunt will begin again.
But not guilty enough to go telling everyone my winning secret! Am I uncharitable? I don't think so, I just really want what I'm bidding on, or else I wouldn't have bid in the first place. And I want it for the least amount of money possible. So for now anyway, I'm not telling! Eek
First: There are too many newbies on Ebay overpaying, (often reneging), which is what makes AS a great tool. They don't know when to quit and will log on, sometimes every hour, every day of the auction and bid it up more. If you put in your highest bid they will nudge their way up until they bump you. Sniping cuts down on the time they can react to you.
Second: When you have several "competitors", especially in collectibles, they can use the ebay search feature to "follow you around". Rather than "hide" completely behind AS, I often have fun putting in a low bid on the item when it opens, to let them know "it's mine", (kind of like the male instinct of marking a tree), and then let them think they "beat me" Until AS wipes the smirk off their face!
I'll share AS with "friends", but not "newbies" and competitors in collectibles!
