Even if everyone bidding on eBay used AS, the results would still depend on who had the highest bid. Someone else might get a bid in at the very last microsecond, after you had put yours in, but unless that final bid was high enough to beat yours, it wouldn't matter. And you'd have an advantage, because if that final bid was the same amount as your bid, you'd win because in case of ties the tie bid that was placed first wins with eBay.
