Call me anal if you like but the plural of words ending in US isn't achieved by just adding an apostrophe. The apotrophe is there to signify something missing, thus do not becomes don't, or possession (Sally's car). Thus one Virus, two viri !
I agree that emails and forums can be less formal but this 'laziness' is slowly spreading beyond this medium as a result. Despite being a very busy man, I always try to ensure that my contributions to forums and emails are as correct as they can be. I appreciate that others may have other priorities. So be it.
