I have just had the most bizarre but *WOO HOO* Excellent experience LOL.

A boy friend of friend (please note the space between boy and friend...very significant Wink ) asked me to bid on some Oakley Sunglasses for him. His max bid was originally $150, then he said get them at all costs (men!!) and then I finally talked him into spending no more than $160. As per my normal these days I proxy bid to see if we were in the ballpark (Dont bother Chatter - I KNOW what you think of this behavior Razz ) and knocked the other bloke off the podium at $142.50. Lovely!! Auction ended at around midnite last nite and I wasnt staying up, so I set my snipe to $163.56 (thereabouts) and went to bed.

This morning I get up and found I won the sunnies for my bid of $142.50. Too Cool Pretty-Boy would be happy.

I know I have waffled but I am getting there.....

This morning (well midnite) I get an email from the seller saying that she only wanted $74 for the sunnies and had that BIN price (gone when we found them) and thats all she is charging me Eek Eek Eek Her explanation was "I am not a greedy person and its the festive season" I nearly fell off my seat. I paid $80 all up, to cover extra ebay fees and express post.

Hi Lexie.

I actually did that once, (but only once).

The poor guy bid $56.00 (or more) for something that just hit the market. I e-mailed him to take $25 off the price if he sent payment right away.

I was afraid he might realize he could purchase the same item from the manufacturer on line, delivered for $19.95

That same item is on eBay now for around $10.

Well I paid, got the item, checked its authenticity and was really pleased with the whole transaction. Lovely seller who I have since bought another couple of items off. All brand name and spot on!!

I get an email from eBay's VeRo's program asking me not to complete the transaction. Umm... HALLO...been there done that about 1 week ago duffus'!! (ensures correct placement of apostrophe for R2 Razz ).

I have emailed them back as I think I should defend her, I mean its a great program and everything, but I am sure they get it wrong every now and then

PS...why does eBay and others associated with them iNsiSt oN pUtTinG CaPiTaLs iN sTrAnGe pLAceS?

Lexie
My oh my, is this English 101? I do believe it is simply AS Forum!!

Lexie, that is what I thought about the glasses. Oakley is a very common one in the States to knock off. They sell them on street corners, flee markets, you name it! You normally can buy them for ten dollars or less. Frown

I didn't think it was possible, but the graphics have gotten even better!!

Rick, you must have tapped into a goldmine of graphics! You have multiple designs for every, (and I do mean every) occasion!

Mrs M, how have you been?

I see that Sniper Sarah (Sniper Goddess) has offered a wonder deal for everyone! That was a really nice gesture.

I will have to do a serious search to get caught up on some of the great pictures you all have found!

Mrs. M has been deleting a lot of her's. Also, I think she changed her ID since you were last here.

Anyway, GREAT to have one of the original 4 "Morning Socials" back.
Hey Billie Big Grin Great to see you back. Oh and Bartelby sends her best wishes too LMAO.

R2 - Duffus' is actually correct. "duffi" is just ridiculous and "duffuses" is even ridiculouser Razz Razz Razz

As for my missing "'", who uses them for words like "dont" and "wont" in forums or emails (only anal literary gurus Razz and ppl with too much time on their hands Smile )

HEY!! Who hijacked my thread Wink

Lexie
I am the weakest link?

Call me anal if you like but the plural of words ending in US isn't achieved by just adding an apostrophe. The apotrophe is there to signify something missing, thus do not becomes don't, or possession (Sally's car). Thus one Virus, two viri ! Wink

I agree that emails and forums can be less formal but this 'laziness' is slowly spreading beyond this medium as a result. Despite being a very busy man, I always try to ensure that my contributions to forums and emails are as correct as they can be. I appreciate that others may have other priorities. So be it.

Here's what I'm reading at the moment - perhaps it'll explain everything: ISBN 1861976127

I do understand, Region. However, I do not believe it is your place or my place to chastise and perhaps embarrass people in the forum. What is the point? I see many mistakes in both spelling and punctuation posted (even my own). We come from many diverse backgrounds and several countries. It can be a wonderful learning experience for all of us if we will just let it be. Smile

Trouble is, Mrs M, you don't seem to comprehend humour, blatant or tongue-in-cheek.
In your defense, the printed word can appear flat which is why emoticons (eg: Wink ) are used. They go beyond punctuation, raising the monotone and helping the reader to grasp the intended tone of the sentence.
Can I suggest that you wind your neck in - your fatuous postings are doing my head in.

You know, puppy, I really intended to not come back. I do not like people making fun at others expenses...and then, I think a friend should defend when it is honorable. Lexie is a nice person. She writes and speaks as her country does. I talk to her in another forum and it did hurt her. But, I have really worked hard to get this forum alive, so I think it is dazed to walk away.

LMAO!! And I learned from that experience never to defend anyone!

Puppy, yes , this was exactly how I felt. Region has always picked at me for some reason, even though Rick equally posts as much, but no matter. What you just posted IS how I felt and it had been coming on for some time, not just with these few posts. I really don't know why it was happening, but I felt the tension throughout the Holidays. Perhaps I did misunderstand Region. All Region had to say was that I had. Anyway, I am sure my life will go on as will his. He will be back. This is the norm for him. Thanks.(and no, I am NOT upset with you! Smile)

Maybe the intention was not to defend someone else, but them self. No matter. Time to drop it. No need to go on about it. I’m just having a little fun. Don’t anyone misplace their sense of humor. It’s not important. Don’t make a big deal out of it. Time to move on. Don't take it personal. Yuck – yuck – yuck!
Jeez Rick, take a pill or have a beer or something! We just like to come here and have conversation. Nobody has to be "right" all the time. It's not the point. We are just chatting. It's for f-u-n. You know that word???? Just lighten up, or take yourself to Baghdad and take your anger out on the terrorists. I'm sure my son and his fellow troops would gladly trade places with you.
You can get an Oakly Sunglass and a Rolex
combo for $25 at our local flea market. They started at $100 and have come down
as everyone is selling them. The big Knock Off this year are the Dolce Gabanna sun glass line. Sometimes they spell Gabanna with two b's or one n but they sure
look like the ones in my Optomotrist office for $250.
