To a certain extent it depends on when the auction is closing. Some times are busier for eBay than others, particularly on weekends. I'm getting my snipes through with 8 seconds left; you might want to use 10 seconds if the item is really important to you, just to give AS and eBay a little extra time to register your bid.

Good luck, and let us know how it comes out, will you? Smile
After my last fiasco, I'm not sure how much creditably you'll give me, but I'll take a shot.

5 seconds should be OK. I'd used 8, just because I'm cautious. It doesn't have a high counter, so you're very unlikely to have a manual counter snipe.

It's not prime time (Wed. 13:59:38), but it's close to ending on the exact hour. There's more auctions end on the exact hour, so you might get a slow down. All things considered, just to be safe, 10 to 12 seconds.

Also, I wouldn't post my snipe amount. It's very unlikely that 2 AS'ers would be going after that, but one never knows.

Good luck.

P.S. Sorry for leading you astray on your last post.
No, the administrator can. There's usually two icons next to the quotes (" ") at the top of each post. One of those allows you to change or delete your post, the other one allows you to alert AS support about a questionable post. After 30 minutes, the icon to change or delete no longer works.

The time remaining is based on PST - the time of this forum.

I sure didn't mean to imply that you did something terrible by leaving the price. I just recommend doing it again.

P.S. - I don't know if you noticed, but I've changed this one post 3 or 4 times.

Also, after about 10 minutes, you get the following added:

AS won't let you set up two snipes, but you can put in one (or more) previous proxy bids manually. We recommend against this because it's tipping your hand and defeating your purpose as a sniper -- which is all about stealth and surprise.

Don't worry about your AS snipe getting in on time. It's programmed to add a few seconds to your snipe automatically if it senses that eBay is running slow. (So don't get your knickers in a knot if your bid goes in sooner than you had it scheduled for. That's just AS trying like mad to make sure that eBay accepts your bid even though the eBay servers are busy.)

No, neither Rick nor I is an administrator. Just longtime snipers, like you'll be one day. Wink
