Yahoo!!!! I figured out how to watch an auction on AS without auctually having to place a bid.

1.import the item as if you're going to be bidding on it.

2.once it's in the "your snipes" section, make the change in your max bid price to be exactly what the "currently" bid is.

3. VOILA!! now you can watch it. don't worry that the status says "ready", it won't be placed.

Just for information...

Actually, your bid will be placed. It just won't win and be recorded on the auction because it's rejected by eBay as too low.
(unless there is a bid retraction or cancellation)

This used to work, but have not tried it lately. There may have been changes that won't let you do it.

Create a bid group. After creating, change the number of items to win to zero and click 'update'. AS should never bid on items you put in that bid group because you've already won zero of them.
Very clever Janie. I don't remember anyone every suggesting that. I didn't know that was possible.

I've tried Puppy's idea (zero-win bid group), and AS went ahead and sniped. You could use an expired bid group (# of wins reached), but your idea has a lot of merit and may be a better solution.

P.S. Like the picture.
This is a bug, and will be fixed. You aren't supposed to be able to edit your bid to a price lower than the current minimum bid required to win. Enjoy it while it lasts, but it's gonna be gone Monday or Tuesday.

All snipes on the Snipes tab take resources. We treat them as snipes, and even snipe them. That means the items you're watching might just cause someone else to lose an item at peak times like 7pm etc. We'll be adding a way to watch items that doesn't do this in the future. For now though please dont do it.
