I really love this website. What a great idea for an internet business!

One thing that I wish Auction Sniper would do for me, is give me the option to snipe multiple auctions from the same seller, but if I do not win all of that seller's auctions, that my snipes for the other auctions from the same seller, will automatically cancel out.

Why in the world would I want that?!! Sometimes a seller will have an item that I want to buy, but also has other items for bid, that I want--but only if I can combine the shipping charges, for the multiple items. If I lose the auction item, that I want most from a seller, I do not want to be stuck paying shipping and handling charges for other auction items that I ended up winning from the same seller.

For instance, a seller from outside the country, that in buying from, would create some high shipping costs. Once I have money sunk, in one auction, for shipping. It adds little extra shipping to buy additional items for sale. If I lose the item, I wanted most, I really don't want to incur the shipping charges for other items, that I bid on, expecting to be able to combine shipping costs.

This would be an excellent improvement to this site. Maybe Auction Sniper can allow you to select a priority auction item, in a special My Snipes grouping, which will cancel out all subsequent auction snipes, for that same seller, if you lose the winning bid on that first, desired auction.

What do you think about that? How many free snipes is this idea worth?!!! LOL! Big Grin

This scheme would be difficult to create. The latter example you give is sort of like a reverse bid group, where the later snipes would be canceled if the first one did not win--the exact opposite of a regular bid group, where as soon as you win one, the other snipes are not placed. Perhaps that could work, but I wonder if there are enough AS members who desire it to justift the allocation of resources.

But what are the chances that the item you want most (or the biggest item, the one with the greatest shipping charge) is the first auction to end? What if it is the third item in a series of five auctions by the same seller? You already would have won two auctions, an eBay fact that cannot be changed by AS. You would still owe the seller for those two wins. It would seem to me that the precise scenario you describe, i.e., the first auction being the "key" auction in a series of auctions by the same seller, is an extremely limited and infrequent occurrence, and not one likely to necessitate a reverse bid group. Red Face
It would be the case, that the first auction ending, that you are bidding one, would have to be the priority item, that would stop bidding for other items, from the same seller, even if you prefer, say the third item ending, out of five items from the same seller.

In that case, by winning the first item, and having my shipping cost sunk in that item, then I would be willing to bid higher on that third item, I really want. I look at it as if part of that shipping charge is going towards the price of the item. Therefore, I can afford to pay more, when the shipping cost is divided up among multiple items. Other buyers, that do not have money sunk into shipping costs with the same seller, probably will not be willing to bid as high, because of the shipping cost. Thus giving me the advantage in winning the next item. Just my theory anyway.

Although, it may not be useful in every case, I believe that it would be a useful tool to users of this website.

Yes, the feature has been requested before, and one we've thought of for just the reason you mention, to save on shipping.

It's one of the better suggestions made as far as functionality, but as Steve mentioned our main concerns are how many people would use it, and how much would it clutter the already busy interface we have or confush people using the other bid group type.

It'll remain something high up on our list of features and if we can think of a way, or our site ever changes in a way that allows it to be added we can do it then.
