I’ve sniped a few times successfully with lead times of around 8 - 10 seconds. However, I’m thinking of placing a snipe on an item on Sunday evening (UK GMT time) and reading the recommendations, apparently Sundays are notoriously busier than other days for eBay traffic. I’m in the UK, placing a bid on an item in the UK, so does anyone know if this still applies? i.e. Should I increase my bidding time or does the busier internet traffic only apply to Sundays Pacific (eBay) time? If I need to increase my bidding time, what are the recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Those recommendations are somewhat dated. There was a time (way back) when Sundays were a problem because of the heavy traffic. Ebay’s response time has improved (based on the lack of current complaints on the forum), and AS does a better job of sensing eBay’s response time (based on the lack of current complaints on the forum) and pads the lead time accordingly. Actually, the 8-second is old-school thinking. Again, with improvements with eBay and AS, 3 or 4 seconds is as good a 8 or 10. But, if you are more comfortable with 8 to 10 seconds, or 12, then OK. It’s a personal preference, and nothing scientific.

Happy sniping.
