Christi, I may know what happened. Twice I have lost bids on baby / infant items. I don't know for sure on the first, but on the second lost item (which just happened), eBay is posting a safety warning about recalled items. Following eBay's reference to CPSC, it says "by clicking here". The word "here" contains a link to the CPSC screen. Below this information is eBay's usual item title, your max bid amount, etc. followed by the confirm bid box which must be clicked to complete the bid. Until Auction Sniper proves otherwise, I think the Auction Sniper bid is taking the path following the "here" for safety (which would explain why my bid has died for two different auctions). Were any of the other "non bid complaints" for baby items?
Until I know otherwise, I will always make at least one bid to see if this CPSC screen comes up. When it does, I will plan to place my bids myself. However, I may "test" Auction Sniper and also use it. Then if I have only placed one bid, I will know that Auction Sniper failed me, but I won anyway... Smile
Is my explanation clear?

I did not win an auction tonight My snipe bid was well above the winning bid and was scheduled 4 seconds before auction end. It appears everything stopped at the Ebay bid confirmation window. What happened??[/QUOTE]

I have learned that you should allow at least 9 seconds before the auction closes. I used to use 6 seconds, and then started missing bids. Somewhere in the documentation we are warned not to cut it too close.

Was your lead time 7 minutes or 7 seconds? If 7 seconds, that was the problem (unfortunately).
Same thing happened to me twice tonight, failed to complete the bid confirmation. Maybe eBay has decided to throw in a hitch to reduce the use of Auction Sniper or something, Ha! Maybe just an Auction Sniper problem. Sheesh... I really like Auction Sniper to use while I'm at work, away from the computer. It would suck to have to manually snipe. Lets hope the problem gets straightened out very quickly!
When my bid failed and I had been using 6 seconds, I checked with Auction Sniper, which is why I finally made my lead time 9 seconds. (5 seconds plus the 4 additioinal suggested during peak hours is why I chose 9 seconds). Interesting disclaimer on internet traffic...

Auction Sniper says:
64. What is the ideal lead time to use for a snipe?

Lead time is the number of seconds from the end of an auction that you would like AuctionSniper to bid for you. We recommend lead times between 5 and 10 seconds, although we've seen times as low as 2 and 3 seconds work just fine. Currently, Auction Sniper successfully places 99.9% of all snipes with 5 second lead times.

We don't recommend anything less than 5 seconds Although we send the snipe on time, during peak times an eBay server may not process it in time. This is not the fault of eBay or us; internet traffic is just heavier at certain times. And during peak periods, you might consider adding 2-4 seconds more since their servers seem to be taking quite a hit during that time (5-10 p.m. PST), and on weekends.
