Mick,

What a good idea. It could be called something like, say, Bid Groups.

What you could do is create a Bid Group and put all the snipes that you want to run in the group. Then, AS could bid for you, item by item, until one of the items is won, then it would stop.

Sorry, I'm being sarcastic! It already exists:-
Click here for information on Bid Groups!

rsmiller40 - what was he advertising - I can only see an URL that I decided not to click on!?!

Mick - you can make your messages slightly more readable by using the button rather than _bold_

I have been surfing the net for over 10 years, and this is first time I have had instant "smart-Ass" giving me crap about adding a simple signiture to the forum as described in the forum registration process.

I had a simple suggestion, why dont you go to another place to flame people as I was only here to add a useful comment about auctionsnipe.

Thanks

I am just new to auctionsnipe and I am just getting used to this. But the Group option was something that I would have found useful last night.

I do have an additional question about the groups:
I had a chair that ended in 4 minutes, and another one that ended in 5 minutes. Would there be enough time to seperate these auctions? Or would there need to be more seperation in time for the Group logic to actually work?

Thanks

Hi Mick,

This is from AS' faq:
28. Can I add two or more bids with the same auction ending time to a bid group?

Sorry, no. It is impossible for us to detect to see if you have won a snipe, and then cancel the rest, if they end at the same time. You should allow at least 30 seconds between bid group items to give us enough time to determine if you've won the first item.

Hope that helps. Good luck sniping. Wink

Sorry, Mick, didn't mean to insult you. We have a small problem with people using the forum to advertise and I really thought that was what you we trying to do. Since it seems you were not, I beg your forgiveness. I'm not really a smart A--, but anyone can misjudge and we all probably do from time to time.

rsmiller40 - I have a suggestion - please bite your tongue - you seem to want to reply to every posting on this forum - I have logged in to see your name as the latest poster in every new topic. Am I the only one who finds it a bit annoying when you insist on saying not very much at every opportunity?!

It is possible to read, say 'hmmm' and move on...

No, region2, you are not the only one.

I have been away for awhile and came back to a kozillion postings to read; it was discouraging and confusing to see that most were useless comments and did not follow the original topic.

HOWEVER, I was happy to see that the chit-chat was moved to a more appropriate folder; it makes the strings a lot easier to follow now.

It's not that I mind friendly chattiness or silliness...it is only bad when it is in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

It seems that the forum is back on track now. And it was nice to see Mick's original posting addressed with the comment about bid groups; it is not always clear what all is available to new snipers and/or the use of the various tools.

Region2, sooo, I do know that this is a free to ANYONE forum. I probably spend much more time here than you as I am housebound a majority of the time. If someone posts something and no one else is on , I feel free to post back. This is not a contest, just a forum. You, on the other hand are free to skip over my post. I have noticed many times someone posts an answer and you tend to repeat, but that's ok too. Maybe you think it explains it better. As for my tongue, I'll be the judge of my affairs. If I say something I feel is right, it stands, if not, I will appoligize. ...Warriornun, yes you are right and several of us agreed some time ago to take any friendly talk down to general..check the archives.

Excuse me for this post, but I really need to say something here...

region2, I feel you are TOTALLY out of line.
I feel that your comments only added a negative tone to this forum- one that I find particularly disturbing and offensive.

I feel that your opinion is always welcome, as long as it doesn't become personal, but I fear that you have crossed the line and made a public statement to another member that could have been done in a private post.

Your intent was to be hurtful, and that is disturbing to me.

Over the last few days I seriously debated whether or not to even contribute to this conflict, as I know it will probably only escalate it, but I would have been angry with myself had I not stood up for rsmiller40 and stated to you and the rest of the forum how I feel.

Hey, our relative ages are irrelevant. My point was that this forum is getting hard to read with all the (IMHO) unnecessary comments.
"Your intent was to be hurtful" - no way BJT, I was just suggesting that it is possible to read a post without always replying, especially if the reply doesn't add anything more to the thread.

As to crossing a line or adding a negative tone, I would disagree. Since the forum became more 'chat room' like, a number of people have expressed disquiet - I would suggest that this new look is off-putting to first-time visitors. Again, IMHO, rsmiller40 appears to be the main chatterbox so it was to her that I replied to, hoping that others might debate whether they agree or disagree.

Yes, we only need 5 seconds of seperation in ideal cases where eBay is actually working nicely. The longer the seperation, the more likely we'll be able to snipe the second of the two items. Basically we just gotta check and see if you won the first one before we bid on the second. And if eBay is slow the 5 seconds may not be enough. Generally though it is.
