When I try to view "all snipes" I get a server error message from AS, posted below. Also, I had a number of snipes which previously stated "Did Not Win" and for which I was going to use the auction snipe credits provided by AS. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that all of those had disappeared.

This is what I get when I try to list all snipes:

Just figured out why my "did not win" auctions were not shoiwing up. Apparently there is a bug in AS. If you display all snipes, then order by "status," AS does not sort by status. other than to seperate the wins from the losses.

AS has the following "Status" designations:

Proxy Outbid
Outsniped
Not In Time
Did Not Win
Bid Too Low
Credited
Ended Early
Reserve Not Met
Ready
You Won!

It would be great if the AS function "sort by status" should actually do what it says -- sort all of the auctions by status, indexing by each of the above status designations used by AS, instead of failing to sort the following AS status designations: Reserve Not Met, Credited, Ended Early, Bid Too Low, Did Not Win, Not In Time, Outsniped. These all appear mixed together.

Can this be fixed?
I had the same difficulty yesterday, but comforted myself that the AS technicians were aware of the situation and the reason for the outage was "closed for repairs." Sure enough, within 15 minutes I was able to delete two snipes (outbid by proxy bidders 'way before auction closing). Let's hear it for the technicians! Smile
Well, I was corrupted again... Eek but thought I'd try the "refresh" button...and it updated the auctions.....then just cause it's still raining, I tried to change a snipe...kapowie...'rupted again... Eek Eek refreshed again and the change went thru......yea yea....Beginning to think it's not "raindrops falling on my head" but Ebay's upcoming page changes.....A.S. rules !!
I got one of those two Monday night. We're going to try a server upgrade Thursday night probably. We updated one of the servers last week. We think that because some are updated and some arent that maybe they are having trouble talking. Each time you go from page to page on our site you connnect to a potentially different server. Data on what you're doing is supposed to be transferred along with you.

We do that to balance the load. We can then add more servers at any time when more customers join. Just about every site out there with any number of users going ot the site has to do that. eBay probably has hundreds of computers doing that I'd guess.
Well, since I've been unable to access my account for over 45 minutes and I must go to work today, I will just hop over to ebay and change my passwords there. If I'm blocked from changing or adding AS snipes, and I can't count on your system to place these snipes anyway, I think it's only fair to block AS from making any money off of me today. Cheers!

You're right, but my experience with AS is that they are very fast to respond. And considering they don't get paid for snipes that can be entered into AS, they are highly motivated to fix it.

Remember, they are upgrading their hardware, which will mean it will be even better in the future. And, unfortunately, doing upgrades or software enhancements are difficult times and can cause problems. That's one of the reasons I'm an advocate for limiting software enhancements - they often cause problems - no matter how much testing is done. "If it ain't broke, don't break it." Wink

Steve, what's your opinion?

Very unlikely. The only time snipes didn't go thru, that I can remember, were due to that time internet was experiencing "The Worm".

When there's a problem, it seems to only impact adding, deleting or changing a snipe.

Hope that helps. Wink

Yep, another error message this morning...but I can deal with it....Rick...I have a snipe set to go tonight, and I have placed my max amount so time will tell.....Sara...thnx for letting us know the situation re: servers/upgrade...although I agree with Rick to some degree about "If it ain't broke", A.S. Must continue to improve/upgrade their program...and these errors are part of the price paid to be at the front of the pack...and lastly...Steve You're the Man !! Rick Yes, you could reach a 1,00 posts before Steve, but since you're a Class Act you wouldn't "snipe" Steve before he hits the 1,000 post mark. Looking forward to the titles Sara gives both of you when you all hit that mark!! Smile Smile Smile
