barb,

There hasn't been a report of this being a problem, at least that I can remember.

I did a search, and got nothing (probably just a full-moon error). Did a refresh, retried the search, bingo - everything fine. But, of course, I couldn't take the time to wait for email.

Since I don't currently have any searches in AS - I can't tell you whether it's working or not.

These suggestions are my best shot:
1) Wait for someone else to come on to verify that they are working or not working for them (probably a waste of time, since either way, because if I were you, I'd be more concern about MY searches working).
2) Wait for someone else to come on and tell you that you need to change something (this is going to sound like, "Is it plugged in?", and I don't mean to insult, but I'm sure you have it set for "Yes, email the results".
3) File a support case with AS: http://support.auctionsniper.com/

Sorry about my limited help on this one. Frown Frown Frown

Glenn,

Did you happen to see this post from Mike Barnes?

Had a reply from support which basically said these kinds of searches didn't work particularly well and suggested I search for items in my currency instead. (The problem is, about 20% of UK auctions are listed in US$ for some reason).

The ebay search facility is a little strange, and IMO AS would do better to use a different method. What I mean is that if you click the big search button at the top of an ebay page, you get a particular search screen. On the other hand, if you just type in your search in the left-hand bar you get a much more powerful search as you can drill it down to sub-cats rather than main cats, and the "items located in" options work correctly. It would only be a minor tweak for AS to use this option, and then we could search in sub-cats, too.

Is that of any help?

The searches have never worked properly, IMHO. I have submitted a number of support 'calls' and had to battle to convince the support guys that there is a problem.

Lately, the searches have started bringing up no results when run manually - I've noticed that pressing refresh can sometimes make them bring up results when before there were none.

AS is a great product (hmmm, if so, why can I not get logged on tonight?) but the searches let it down, again IMHO...

I may upset some of you, but AS is a sniping service and not a search engine. The search is just a added FREE benefit that you don't even pay for. You pay for the Sniping service.

And I have researched other sniping sites -- no searches offered by any that I could find.

Thank you, Kgutzke, for letting everyone know that the tech staff IS aware of the problem and that they ARE working on it. Smile

In the meantime, let's try to keep things in perspective -- AS's priority is to SNIPE. AS is not a search engine. And quite frankly, you can run as many searches, as detailed as you want, right from eBay! So you don't have to miss out on anything. Wink
