I find that kind of amazing! I had some things close Sunday PM and added 15 seconds to my usual 8...A S added to that and ...I won! I infact, have never lost except when my snipe was not high enough to place!!

Looks like AS automatically adjusted your lead time due to Ebay lag, and then when it processed your snipe - there was no lag.

Its a bugger when it happens, but I like to think I would be more annoyed if I got a *not in time* than outbid.

There is no real way to stop it happening again, I havent actually had my bids go in early but have had 2 Not In Times and they suck!

Really though, if someone came along and upped their bid to beat your snipe - you shouldnt be too annoyed, it means they paid more than you were willing to. Actually, you could take a little satisfaction at making them pay that little extra and you might snag a bargin next time.

eBay appears to have fixed some of their slowness issues. The # of not in time snipes has been very low for the past 3 weeks and this Sundays # was the lowest it's been in probably almost 18 months or more. So that's pretty darn good. The sunday before that wasn't quite as good, but still one of the better Sundays in a year.

If this continues we'll adjust our adjustments downwards slowly until either more late snipes occur, or our leads are gone.

Ditto. Wins 777-783 yesterday. Only twice did my snipe ever not go through. Yes, sometimes they go a bit early, but I still win, except for a handful that go out my range.

Thanks for the incredible avalanche of info--as well as the warm welcome. My first two snipes went off without a hitch, but the last two have been disastrous, so its good to know that if Ebay can get their act together, AS will adjust accordingly! I usually place my own bids if I am going to be home, but when I'm not, that's when I have found AS to be invaluable. That was always the problem in the Pre-AS world, wasn't it? Wanting a great item that either closed at 3 AM or some other inconvenient time? And Lexie, the point is well taken about making the winning scounrel pay max price! I simply went to Amazon and purchased the item there for 50 cents more than my highest bid, shipping included. Always good to remember that there is a reason we put a cap on what we will pay. Anyway, I look forward to learning more from all you wise AS veterans as I attempt to win an auction now and then.

Fiasco, I recommend setting AS for ALL your auctions, even when you are home. It is easy to forget, even when one is home! Sometimes I bid manually, too, as a back up, if I am home, but I set all auctions through AS. It is worth the small fee.

And, Chatter should know with way over 700 A S wins under his belt! He is the Sniper

chatter does! I don't have enough to worry about counting!!

I don't count them. If you go into the MY SNIPES folder and then choose ALL snipes, it will show every snipe you have EVER done through AS. Since I rarely lose, it is easy to see the totals, then subtract the handful of losses. My snipes go back nearly two and a half years.
