Hi, I'm a new Ebay-er and Auction Sniper (love it!) and am looking for input regarding my not receiving a package.

I won an auction on 11/17 and paid for the item through PayPal on the 18th. To date, I have not received my item. I e-mailed the seller, who lives in Canada, and she said she mailed it as soon as she received payment. She also said that another book she'd mailed at the same time to another auction winner had already been received.

Assuming the seller mailed my item on 11/19, I'm willing to give it until the end of this week before I consider the item lost (I've received items from Europe that arrived within one week).

I don't think this seller is jerking me around but as I haven't experienced this situation before, I wanted to check with the experts as to the best protocol.

My questions are: am I allowing enough time before the item is considered lost (I received a package from the Netherlands within a week)? And, I'd like to get my money back. Is it appropriate to receive it all back or expect only a partial refund? She did not provide trackable shipping or insurance options so I had no choice but to accept snail mail. Here's the Ebay item number for reference: 3565671301.

Thanks for the help!

Do I understand you have no insurance? If so, lost is lost. It doesn't matter. However, sometimes when things go through customs, they get really held up. I have had things go right through and things held for almost a month. One never knows. I certainly would give it another week or two before I gave up on it. Smile She does not have to give you any money back, so be nice to her..maybe she will do something out of courtesy.

After reading your post again, I did a delete and will repost. Yes, customs can be a real problem. It very well could take a month and with the extra Christmas stuff comming up... well who knows. This person has excellent feedback, so that should not be the problem. I'm with Mrs. M. Just hang in there and wait.

The only fast way to get things across the border is to us AirBorne, Fed Express, or a service like that, but then you're talking $30-$50.00 in shipping!

Thanks for the quick replies and the welcome! I lurked on this board before sniping and I'm glad I did because I think I learned a couple of tricks that helped me win my auctions.

I thought perhaps there would be some issues shipping over the border, particularly during this time of the year. And I always check the Seller's rating before bidding and hers seemed fine to me. I'll keep an eye out for it. And, no worries, I'm always pleasant in my e-mails! Wink
Oh Yea, here is something else if you give up waiting. Go back to your auction, and in the 'Seller Information' box, Click on 'Purchase Protection. That will open up a help box. Right under the PayPal logo, click on 'Learn More'.

I haven't read all the fine print, but you may be insured by using PayPal!!

I would not wait too long. I have 2 non arrivals at the moment that I have had to go to the eBay services to start to try to get the items or a refund. One, the seller has given 2 different stories as to when and how shipped. The latest saying that my local P.O. returned the item to her as unknown. Our local PO is one of those small rural type..Know everyone by name and even where they live. The Postmaster has not returned a package in at least 7 months and never one for me. He is willing to swear to that. On the other package, the seller has never answered me. I may have waited too long, thinking that the seller was honest etc. Roll Eyes
