If you have a static problem from carpeting put down a plastic chair glider in front of the printer. You know the plastic square that goes under the chair to make it easy for your chair to glide. They break the static transfer really well.
I load three cartridges at a time and put them in a sealed Rubbermade container they are numbered 1 2 and 3 so I use the oldest first. I have a slice of bread in a sandwich bag inside so they don't dry out. ( A sponge is too much it makes the lables come off ).
You need genuine pigmented Ink if you don't want fading. Its cheaper by the pint. I use ACSI out in Lowell, Ohio. their website is called
oddparts.com. I also like them as they are a
Christian Business. Check their website for filling instructions. No fancy packaging just
great Ink. I now make fabulous 8 x 10 prints for a quarter not a dollar so it doesn't hurt to share a few and I'm not running out for $30 cartridges.
I bought several sets of 'Ginsu' knives! They were $3 or $4 for each set ... couldn't resist I give them out as gag gifts when the mood hits me (they're pretty cheap)!
Re: Paper Jams - it's more of a intake wear or paper dust problem - but every place I've worked that uses HP's in an office environment has had the problem. Epson seems to do much better in a heavy use environment.

A good knife can get you to some tasty meat but a Butterfly can Taste With His Feet.
