Hi All, Smile

I use AS to bid on one item,
as time goes other person bid, only one person bid on that item.

I set my highest bid as possible since I want to win that item,
but when bidding end I didn't see my id bid for that item, all I saw is the other person bid multiple time for same price 0.99, and at the end He won it.

xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-45
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-44
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-43
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-42
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-41
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-40
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-39
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-38
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-37
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-36
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-35
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-34
xxx $ 0.99 hour-minute-33

I place my bid higher than .99, $ 35 to be exact with 4 BE, How could this could happen?

Thanks

Worth bearing in mind that the other person might have increased his/her bid each time - eBay would still show the bid at 0.99 until someone else put a bid in.

So, the original price might have been 0.99 and then our mystery bidder could have bid $50. Price would still show as 0.99.

Fascinated to know why you lost though.

Thank you, I check the status is "Bid Below Increment", is that means he outbid me with only a dollar or could it be eBay hiding each bid?

Thanks hr,

I thinking like that too,
but could we verified if eBay sometime only show single price for each bidding.

And why eBay didn't include my bid?
Could it be that I place my bid to late because I placed it about 2 minutes before it end.

is it time play important role on this,
as you can see, every second it place only 1 bid?

Your auction had a quite a curious outcome. I would encourage you to contact AS support to see if they have any explanation of what may have happened and report back to us.

You mentioned you placed your bid(snipe?) 2 minutes before the end of the auction. I know there is a "lock out" period some amount of time before the end of a listing during which no changes can be made to a snipe. I don't recall the exact time, nor whether it was a factor in your snipe not executing.

I'm very intrigued by the other bidders multiple bids exactly 1 second apart? Did all these bids come in just before the auction end? Is this some sort of strategy to overwhelm the ebay system that prevents other snipes from being accepted/recognized by ebay? Are there other snipe services that permit users to schedule multiple snipes of differing bid amounts and lead times? I can't see how someone could bid so rapidly and regularly without it being done by a service or programatically. Or could it be a glitch? - The bidding mechanism some how got "stuck"?

As Rick mentioned, posting the listing number might help us to figure this out.

Hi Jabbergah,

I know its an old thread,
but in case you need to know about item number of the auction, the item number 151012001131
item link:

You could see the bidder by yourself,
I don't know if this a strategy to confuse eBay bidding system,
but its just not natural for user to bid like that,
The Auction Sniper support person already contact me and they said its because the server to busy, and yet I wonder why if server too busy bidder still have change to place bid multiple time in a second interval? Smile
rlandry78758 - did you manage to lower your bid on AS or did it say you couldn't? I'm assuming your AS bid was more than the maximum you'd entered on eBay? If not, AS cannot lower what you've entered on eBay.

Bit difficult to help you without more information so if you could give numbers, that could help.

As Rick says, there is a cut-off time on AS after which changes to snipes are not allowed - it would be impossible to allow people to change bids up to the last minute.
