Lost the auction even though I had a high bid.

How is it that you can lose the auction when snipes didn't even place the highest bid I had?
Also is there a way to have your bid placed later than the 2 minutes that they are doing now?

It cannot place a bid if your snipe is less than one increment above the current price - is that what happened in this case?

AS bids in the last few seconds of the auction - if it didn't bid on your item, how do you know that it's two minutes from the end?
