I work for a magazine in NY State and we are trying an experiment. rather than try and explain, just check out item #3580582788 on eBay.

I looked like crazy and could not find any catagory that this really seemed to fit so i put it in "books/other" just because. I am VERY new to eBay and i was hoping maybe one of you vets might have a catagory idea? We want to do this again, but i know catagories are important, so HELP!

Thanks,
Okoneri

I've noticed printed business cards in these categories.

> Specialty Services > Printing & Personalization > Other
            OR
> Business & Industrial > Printing & Graphic Arts > Printing & Graphic Essentials > Other
            OR
> Business & Industrial > Printing & Graphic Arts > Other

You can also enter a secondary category when you list.

I think a good title is VERY important. I usually do a key word search on all categories, and then (if necessary) narrow my search. I rarely pick a category first, and look at everything. You get 45 characters for your title and an optional second line. Searches are for the first line only, and the second is an 'Eye Catcher'. You might list something like:

Advertisement Space Publish Printing Fame
15 minuets of fame ! See yourself in Print !

Hope that helps. Good Luck.

Welcome to the forum!

Lexie has already shared some good ideas.

Your item is so unique as to be difficult to catagorize! It seems to be doing OK where it's at, though. 6 days to go and it's already nearly halfway to your regular price!

Do you anticipate the winner placing an article? Advertisement? Picture? What are your expectations?

Definitely a unique means of selling magazine ad space!!

Good Luck!

In answer to the questions:

We are doing this as an experiment right now. It seems to be working reasonably well, but we want to try it a couple differant ways to see what might be best.

We really don't have any specific expectations regarding what someone might use this space for. We're notlooking for politics or religion. personally, I am betting some aspiring actor will buy the space and have his headshot and bio printed. But who knows? It will be interesting either way.

Thanks again

I thought Lexie was sniping, so I cancelled mine! Wink There were NO snipers on the item. I actually thought maybe SOMEONE from the forum would take a shot at the item since it was promoted here!

Item sold to a zero-FB bidder for nearly 60% OFF the regular price of the item ($250). It will be interesting to see if this is offered again.

Puppy, I think the editor might nix that!

I find it interesting that ANOTHER B&W full page is up for bid for the May/June issue. I wonder why they're having such difficulties filling up their pages for that issue?

Maybe we could start a series in the magazine entitled "Sniper!" From issue to issue, it would feature photos of each of us holding a....computer mouse! and glaring menacingly at a computer screen! Roll Eyes Yeah, we could be wearing camo fatigues and camo face paint, too! Roll Eyes LOL! Big Grin

Any other ideas? Wink
