Hey Mrs.M, send some of that rain over here to the midwest. I need it to keep my stupid neighbors from burning yard waste EVERY night and stinking out the whole neighborhood. It's unbelievable. They totally ignore that it's going straight at the other houses. Never mind we have our windows open to enjoy the fresh air. My neighbors across the street were sitting outside having supper and had to run in the house. I kinda told her what I thought tonight, heh. rediculous! She won't get it tho. A couple of years ago they sprayed their yard with 2-4d on a windy (15-20mph) day and killed over 50 of my trees and bushes. I think I could win the "I have the stupidest neighbors" trophy. Or at least the most inconsiderate ones. *ahh* there , I vented! heh But we do need the rain. Only 1/4 inch in Sept.
I'm just a (patched up) Raggedy Ann in a Barbie doll world!

Are these the same stupid neighbors you discussed doing a reciprocating stinking last Easter? Perhaps the whole neighborhood should sign a non-stinking petition?

Maybe they aren’t aware of this? Have you talked to them, or just beat around the bushes they are burning?

“kinda told her”? Maybe she doesn’t do “hints” well?

Considering that you have all the dead trees and bushes, maybe the trophy belongs somewhere else?

There must be some law your neighbors are violating? If the Stockton authorities won’t get involved, the EPA might? The Surgeon General might be interested in the dangers of second-hand smoke? Also, the Forestry Department might be motivated in this to prevent fires? There’s always the Agricultural Department’s concern about soil erosion? Are there any snail darters around? Maybe wetlands protection could be an issue? Could it be contributing to a Greenhouse Effect?

Here’s an idea – have your neighbors (is there more than one neighbor?) send their daily yard waste to your yard and you burn it (on the other side of your house)?

One more idea/theory – your neighbor(s) is really a front for the DEA? The stinking smell is really the burning of illegal drugs? Hell, I’ll be visiting you shortly to personally take charge of this smelling – I mean investigation.

Are the following for the same stupid neighbors?

*ahh* there, I vented? Your vent; my vent; our vent? Nothing like a group vent?
Heh, yea Mrs.M, I think a load of Hog manure would be just the thing!! Too bad my dad doesn't have them any more. Maybe I can find a farmer with a slurry that needs cleaned out! ewwww, that would be gross!
Glad to hear you didn't get washed away in the storms. We are getting some rain today so maybe it will be a "smoke free" evening. Supposed to be 30 degrees tonight tho. bye bye pretty flowers Frown

Your highly educated neighbor Roll Eyes sounds like he would like some hog manure spread on the shubs near his lot line!
Sounds like some Old Testament stuff – “A stink for a stink.” Is the “highly educated” a commentary on American education, or was that some Freudian s*it.

Sure glad countries don’t work out their problems with retaliation – oops, another myth bites the dust.
MG, you are right. It is terribly hard on a lot of folks there. The deductible is $3000.00 for hurricane damage!! My friend that lost his roof twice can well afford it, luckily. He owns 30 some properties across Florida, but none the less, many could not. A tree fell on another friend's son while he was cleaning up and it took 50 some stiches to sew up his injury. He also broke some ribs. I think they are going to try to sell and move back to Tennessee.
MG, did you get your 30 degrees last night?

Remember this post:

In that post, I compared McDonalds to a feedlot. Apparently that isn’t far off – especially for Americans:

Very interesting, and worth viewing – especially for Americans.

Does that mean there’s some inverse relationship between education and something else?

Are there some corollary trends in America – obesity and stupidity?
Wellllll.....I scored a 110% on my final exam. (bonus question gave extra points)But I'm not a certified master gardener until I do 60 volunteer hours. I hope I can do it this winter because I had no time to spare this summer. Well, I did help plant a garden at a local nursing home, and answered questions at the farmers market for about 45 hours. But they aren't very organized about keeping track of it so I'll have to bug them to see where I stand.

Maybe he has one of your dogs?
Possible, but not likely. The school here in Michigan is the largest, but certainly not the only one. Both California and New York have several schools each. Those would be much more local and easier for him to attend. To my knowledge I only have 2 guide dogs working. One for a lawyer in Illinois, and another with a young lady in Mexico City.
MG,

Temps in the 20's already!?! Eek Refresh my
memory -- weren't you located in OK?? IL??

Puppy, yesterday I saw what I assume was
an "assist dog" in the lap of a man in a
wheelchair in a store. It was a miniature
collie/shelty type dog. Larger breeds are
usually the ones to be trained to be assist
dogs. How often are the smaller breeds given
the assist training?

Never, that I know of.

Small breeds are used as hearing dogs for the deaf/hard of
hearing, but the assist dogs must be big enough to pull a
wheelchair up an incline, paw a light switch, etc...
Minimum size for the group I work with is 21" at the shoulder.

Working dogs usually wear some type of pack, and always
wear at least a cape of some kind while in public.
I just raise them... Once they return for formal training the
professionals decide what job they would be best at. I've never
raised a small breed, but the larger breeds could still be
hearing or seizure dogs.

I've raised 2 dogs that washed out of the Paws program, but
were picked up by US Customs.
(Too hyper for a disabled person, but Customs loves that)
LOL! So Puppy, what you're saying is the dog I saw in the store in
the lap of that guy was really just a pet being passed off as an assist
animal so it would be allowed in the store! Wink No matter, it really
was a well behaved dog, and I believe it remained in the guy's
lap the entire time he was in the store. Cute dog, too -- looked
like a "mini Lassie".
