Over the past week, I have discovered my bids have not gone through on auctions by certain sellers. The reason given is 'BLOCKED BY SELLER.'

I spoke wih one seller, and he said he had not blocked me. (In this case, as in others, I have won auctions of this seller in the past. There is no reason for him to block me, and yet I still get the BLOCKED BY SELLER message.

I wrote to AS and got a generic response that was absolutely no help.

Obviously, if this continues to happen, I will change my sniper to another vendor. I believe the problem lies somewhere in the AS software.

I would appreciate it if others would check the last 20 or so auctions they have lose and see if a large amount of the losses is due to "BLOCKED BY SELLER."

And I'm open to suggestions -- particularly if anyone else has had theis problem and figured out how to solve it.

Thanks!

Hi jbt9955,

The generation of the "Blocked by Seller" response to certain snipes actually isn't due to an error on Auction Sniper's end - it is returned when we are unable to place a bid on your behalf because eBay notifies us the bid attempt was blocked by the seller. I clicked the "View Confirmation" button next to your most recent snipe that failed for this reason and found that the following message was returned when your bid was blocked:

This seller has set buyer requirements for this item and only sells to buyers who meet those requirements.

You are unable to bid on or buy this item because:

You either don't have a PayPal account or your PayPal account is not linked to your eBay account.

We encourage you to register with PayPal - it is the fast, easy and safe way to pay. Register with PayPal | Already have a PayPal account?

I believe Rick is spot on with his assessment that you will need to follow the instructions in the thread he provided a link to above. It sounds like there was an error on eBay's end that caused your Paypal account to become un-linked to your eBay account, and that your bid on this item was rejected because the seller only accepts bids from buyers whose Paypal accounts are linked to their eBay accounts.

Hey all,

I just posted a "Blocked by Seller" support request but I figured I'd reply here too:

This is good info on Chatter's post, but something else is going on here - I got blocked and a press of the confirmation button revealed it to be ostensibly for the PayPal required issue but my accts ARE linked. I checked on Ebay - they are linked.

So that's an issue it seems to me.
Did you notice if any of ebay's pages, particularly their search pages, looked different from normal? Sometimes that is a hard question to answer because it seems as if everything is always changing. Several times ebay has put me into their beta testing group. Participants were selected randomly and may not have known they were in it. After one such instance, I lost a bid due to the "blocked by seller" message, even though I had won from the same seller not long before. Something other than myself had caused ebay and paypal to un-link. It is my odd notion that something in ebay's random beta testing mode may cause the un-link malfunction. Next time you log in you may not be in beta anymore, and the paypal link will resume its normal function. They (eBay) SHOULD let you opt-in or let you know they put you in so that you can opt out, but they'd rather have unsuspecting guinea pigs for customers. Guess they want to gauge true customer response rather than what they'd get if the customers knew every keystroke was being analyzed by prying eyes.
