Ain't that the truth Mrs. M. Although when I got my gas & electric bills I pondered how great central H & A really is (after I turned everything off that is). We sure are spoiled. We have everything and still want more and (I think)don't truly appreciate what we do have. What happened to the time when love, family and friends were the greatest treasures you could have.

I cannot imagine living without central heat or A/c today. I remember when I was working and traveling, living in many place without these conveniences. Never got totally used to the discomforts! How spoiled we Americans are!

My house was built in 1958 and has none of those creature comforts; just a windowshaker in my bedroom. I really do not miss them too much; esprcially when the people I know that have them are always complaining about their electric bills. Then I tell them that mine was up to $22.00 last month. MG... That pic looks like someone used an orange filter. It is spectacular. I just looked outside and it is sprinkling very lightly with a slight breeze and 52 degrees. (I suppose it is goog weather compared to many places) Like Mrs. M said "How spoiled we Americans are!" (at least me). I know what you mean about the protesters. When my friend returned from Viet Nam protesters spit on him and called him every foul name in the book as he got off the plane in San Francisco. I just don't understand some people. Confused Good, bad, right or wrong Derek is an innocent participant and every true American should get on their knees and pray and thank him and his comrads. Unfortunately to many are apathetic.

Does Derek have an email address. If so I would like to send him a note of my appreciation.
I will get off my soap now.

...a couple of weeks ago, I did not own a tv; so there is a great savings. Plus, I only turn on the water heater just before I use it (usually in the morning); that will save about $10.00 a month. That was a trick that my mother used and I guess that I just caught the habit.

Yikes, No TV. How did you manage. (actually, you will probably find you managed better without it). No TV would make difference. I have 4 TV's incl the one in my computer.

A lady I know in Mt. Shasta Ca. was selected to participate in the Neilson ratings survey. Because she was the only one selected in that small county a Neilson representive personally drove from San Francisco (about 300 miles) to personally deliver the ballot. When she arrived with ballot, candy, folwers etc. the lady had to tell her she didn't own a TV.

My shower is 75 feet from my water heater and the feed goes thru my unheated crawl space. it really took a long time to run the water. So I had them install a heating recirculator on a timer that starts 15 minutes before I arise and stops 30 minutes later. I also put a timer on the water heater that starts and stops it the same way. Saves bundles and I am always comfortable.
I have been trying to find this poem written by the Chaplain in Derek's battalion since yesterday. I should have put it up with the sandstorm picture. The Chaplain posted it with regards to Dr Seus.....

I do not like this dust and sand
I do not like it on my hands
I do not like dust in my head
I do not like it in my bed
I do not like sand in my hair
I hate it in my underwear
<oRazz></oRazz>

I do not like this dust and sand
I used to like the color tan
I do not like dust on my clothes
I despise it up my nose
I do not like sand on my face
Invading all my private space
I do not like dust in my mouth
I do not like north or south
I do not like sand east or west
Nowhere is where I like it best
I do not like dust in my ear
It's hard to reach, I cannot hear

When it gets in my drink and food
It affects my attitude
I like it not with ham and eggs
I do not like sand on my legs
I like it not in socks and boots
Nor on my veggies, meats and fruits

This dust and sand floats everywhere
It dances in the desert air
I like a dust storm even less
Because it leaves a gritty mess
I want to leave this sand and dust
But until then in God I trust
