Yes, the blue is easier to read, plus it's my current favorite color (subject to change without notice!) plus I'm a February baby so I'm partial to violets!

The problems are that #1 I don't have the lovely collection of .gif's to share (though I have quite a few nice-but-pirated plant and cactus photos in my Virtual Garden) and #2 I don't know anything about image-hosting, and I don't currently have a host. I can't link to pix that are saved on my pc, can I?

No you can't link to a picture on your PC. You CAN link to a picture on the web though. If you can't find pictures, there are several places to go.
for Google, click the Image tab and then just type what you are looking for. You won't always get what you expect, but check it out. Click on the picture you want to go to the site.Mrs.M has a huge private collection, but most of us just post pictures as I have described above. Many here, myself included, would be happy to give you a hand.
