By giving you my Ebay password, that means you'll have access to all my account info. For example, you'll be able to use my password to:

1) change my credit/debit card and checking account number and info

2) see the entire history of my account -- with invoices that show all credits, debits & balances

3) view/change my payment plans, monitor buying habits and selling patterns...etc.

These are all highly confidential information. How do I know they will remain private and secure? What means do you have to protect that kind of information from being abused?

Is there a way to give you a password that'll automatically let Ebay know that you're "Auction-Sniping" for a user, but you will not be able to gain access into the user's account? For example, by using a special code like: AS+user password.

That's just a suggestion but I'm genuinely concerned about the above security issues.

Now that would be cool. If eBay let you enter both a full access password, and a bid only password. Then you could give that password for bidding to places like AuctionSniper.

I think the odds of eBay adding that feature is probably about a zillion to one. It took the like 4 years to add the ability to add pictures to your auction when listing your item with them. And that's a pretty darn key feature.
